I guess you have to pay for weird niche car projects somehow. If companies have to sell millions of grey burb beaters so that I can still buy sports cars, fine by me.

edit: :golfclap:

I just assumed it was like the MX-30, but actually, upon reading the article it's a 2-rotor/electric combo, with the rotary running off of "carbon neutral" fuel. So, maybe a series hybrid? Running... alcohol?

The rotary in the Iconic SP is a twin rotor for a hybrid.

Rotarys run quite well on alternative fuels. One of the oddities of them is that they run best either with stupid low RON or really high RON - ICE of coruse doesnt handle low RON well at all and thence engineer a fuel system to deliver hydrogen and it works. Mazda has had production fleets of rotary powered hydrogen fuelled cars for 2 decades.

Also Mazda have been blue ballign for years with beautiful concepts. Either poo poo or get the gently caress off the pot Mazda, sick of this edging bullshit.

As far as generic 2-box compact CUVs go, the MX-30 is a good looking car. Shame it fails on basically every other metric.

I posted about this in this thread earlier in the year but the kei car rally I went to in April put on by my buddy Clark finally got it's fancy video and website up. His idea is to put on one every year (or maybe twice a year) focused on driving Japan-normal cars (specifically keis but it isn't a hard rule) through the Japanese countryside. He's not exactly sure where it will end up but he wants to avoid the high end that all these sorts of tours end up becoming, we'll see if he can keep it away from that. This was the first one, we hung out with the Built By Legends guys and the joined us for the first part along with Spoon sending along a modified N-One (the yellow one).
Japan is a very gorgeous place and this sort of stuff is very much my jam.

EDIT

My car was the green Jimny

Not in any way that's practical, no. It's always a time frame or special type of vehicle and they all cost $$$$$$$$$$.

I watched Car with a friend last night, the one with a killer car. It was the second film (after I Let You In, which I highly recommend) and we maybe should have called it quits even if it weren't for the wine, beer, whisky, and weed. We'd both doze off during the interminable 70s dialog then wake up for the car murder, thanks to the sudden noises, engine roar, murderous honking, etc. It's a hell of a way to watch a movie
