My local drug store, a Rite Aid, has started locking up the loving toothpaste. There's now a button in the toothpaste aisle that when pressed, supposedly, will summon someone to open them. This might be a sufficient solution to the apparent problem of roving gangs of toothpaste thieves plaguing my bougie rear end neighborhood if Rite Aid didn't also understaff their stores so that there were only ever two people in the entire place - one in the pharmacy, one behind the register. I was buying the travel size versions, apparently theft proof since they're stored in the open, but other people cotton on'd to this so now they're sold out. Toothpaste acquisition shoudn't be this hard.

You can try the store that's 4-5 miles away and closes at 9, though.
