New 6 hour down the rabbit hole video on Eve. I fell off when he started detailing ship slot levels. I assume he's constructed some kind of comprehensive video tutorial. Photos of the 90s and stories of epic crunch were neat though.

If it gets more people into eve then I’m happy, probably won’t watch it but eh. It’s also one of the very few eve videos made by a significant content creator, the other one I can think of is a review MandaloreGaming did in 2016. So a good step for eve publicity for sure.

I saw that 5-hour long Down The Rabbit Hole video about Eve Online and for reasons that I can't fully explain, decided to re-download and log in to EVE for the first time since 2018. When I was last playing, I was a member of a Nullsec Alliance that was kind of trash and actually is a huge reason I left the game (RIP TAPI) and made my money tripleboxing Rorquals. Logging into one account after another, reviewing Asset Safety caches and smiling at all my old capital ships, then I log into my third account.

Rorqual, undocked, in nullsec space. Why in gods name did I log off, undocked, in a loving Rorqual in nullsec space?!

So dear goons, I might just lose interest in this within the next few hours and never give a poo poo again, as I've successfully not given a poo poo about this terrible terrible space game for 5 years now. But if hypothetically I decide I want to resub, firesell most of my old poo poo, and find a nice wormhole group to move in with...

What the gently caress do I do to get this Rorqual safe?

E: Thinking through this.

1.) The social engineering option: Get one of my other Rorq Pilot alts into the corp now in control of the space (Can't get the current pilot into corp while undocked, right?), then at a low traffic time log in to the rorq pilot, warp to him with my in-corp character, hop out of the rorq and get the in-corp character in. Dock up, firesell.
Pros: Pretty safe I think?
Cons: Have to shmooze up to random pubbies and get an alt of questionable corp history and providence into a null alliance.
2.) The stupid soloist option: Spend a week scouting out a cyno route through low traffic systems, pre-establish safe spots and try to get in to system and to the safe with a loving industrial capital ship, in hostile space, when no-one is in system.
Pros: ???
Cons: I will lose the Rorqual
3.) The probably preferred option: wake up tomorrow, decide I still don't give a poo poo, and never log in again.
Pros: Mental health.
Cons: None identified.

What am I missing?

1) seems worth a shot at least, you lose nothing if they just say no. I believe you can join corp in space as long as you're in your pod, though i'm not certain.

if you do 2), you might want to consider: get a cloaky scanning alt into the system, periodically scan for a lowsec hole, get the rorqual through when the system is quiet and dock it at a lowsec station (and have an emergency cyno ready in range of the lowsec just in case)
also if you join a corp i'm sure they can assist you in doing 2)

heavily recommend 3) though

Hi. I started watching the 6 hour history of EVE video and had my curiosity repiqued. I last thought about getting into EVE around the time Empires of EVE published. I assume I should do the tutorial and such as a new player and then apply to GoonWaffe?

IIRC the only real red flag that Waffe uses for vetting is fresh account/minimal posts, so, yeah, go run the tutorial and apply to Waffe.

I've been in and out of Waffe several times and even though I'm a highgov director in <GEESE> I'm pretty sure that if geese fell apart I could just pop my way back into line membership and maybe even the FC corps in Waffe within a day. The ten dollar bond > all.

Let's say, hypothetically, that one has played EVE for years. Let's also say, that this individual was part of Goons for ages, and always wanted to be in Goonwaffe. Finally, let's say this r word also payed for an SA account in the vain hope of being accepted into Goonwaffe. What would the hypothetical odds of this individual being accepted into GEWNs be?

you can probably submit a polite ticket to CCP and tell them you'd like to get your rorq safe'd and then will move your character and ship to a random lowsec area. I also have not played in >5 years but moving assets to more accessible locations was a normal occurrence before asset safety.

moving caps is trivial these days if you have multiple accounts. you're probably only a few jumps from either npc null sec or low sec where you can dock the thing. all you have to do is get a cyno into the target system, jump, then warp off your rorq and cloak it in space. to do this, you want the following modules on your rorq:

1) a cloak
2) a 500mn MWD that you pulse once then click warp - once the mwd cycle ends you will enter warp instantly
3) a warp core stabilizer just in case
4) one i-stab to guarantee one cycle mwd warp
5) some hyperspatial accelerators so you get out of warp faster, giving an enterprising combat scanner less time to get you

you may have to run those mods plus a mobile depot out to your rorq in space but once they're fit it's piss easy to move safely, especially with how dead most null sec systems
are

Mr j4g I have a trick for you, basically for a few months you start interacting with the community, learning the culture, and then when those goonwaffe recruiters least expect it you apply with a healthy post history and good knowledge of actual goon culture. It’s a pretty advanced form or j4ging so don’t tell anyone else.

Funny enough I'm a bit of a failson J4G myself. Registered my account in 2011 with the idea that maybe I'd put an alt in Waffe. Lost interest in the boards and returned to reddit, never really involved myself in espionage in game.

Then in 2016 I decided reddit was a wasteland and found myself logged back in here, been posting ever since.

Good thing I'm never playing Eve again so the recruiters don't see this post and commissar my J4G rear end.
