Vahakyla posted:General Carlos, Having been delegated the task of figuring out this logistical challenge, Tomas, a career Argentine logistics officer, was on the case. Tomas' background was not in maritime shipments and most of his contracting experience was in line hauling or local contracting, but he was sure this would be a simple enough endeavor. Tomas started calling around to various logisticians, contracting officials, and military surface deployment specialists who he had contacted for past exercises and movements to ship military equipment and government equipment up and down the coastline. He also called the legal advisor. They informed him that he had no real authority to redirect a foreign motor vessel, already slated to go to port in Puerto San Julian. But he had been given a mission. By the most superior officer. The supreme commander had to schedule the delivery of 200 pieces of cargo personally, which the Commandante had delegated to Tomas! Surely Tomas could to figure out how to ship 200 housing units that were presently loaded on a foreign vessel and only 50 miles from Puerto San Julian. He looked up the vessel on google and was impressed to find that it is capable of carrying up to 5,390 TEUs. He hoped the 200 housing units were packed on top. He tried contacting the commercial shipper directly. They asked for verification and credentials to prove that he was authorized to make financial commitments on behalf of the government. He told them that the Supreme Commander required options for changes in delivery, and they advised that for changes to the bill of lading, they would require verification that the Argentine government was willing to incur all costs associated with this change, which could be exceptionally high given the delay to the other several thousand containers of goods. This concerned Tomas. However, they gave him the contact information for the Argentine Ministry of Transport as well as the Vessel Traffic Services of the Prefectura Naval Argentina. He spent a few hours exchanging Emails and phone calls, trying to figure out how to redirect this cargo ship and where best to have it deliver its cargo. For hours he was bounced around, redirected, told this was impossible or unwise or financially uninformed, or informed that it was simply illegal, because the military had not been granted any authority to redirect commercial traffic nor to incur costs associated with redirecting commercial traffic. But finally, someone let him explain the situation, and a shipping scheduler with government credentials, and the authority to redirect ships! He was elated, and she sounded equally so! Martina let him know that she could order the ship redirected and would be happy to do so right away. Tomas was relieved, happy to hear an expert on the other end of the phone, finally resolving the problem. She was thanking him repeatedly for bringing this to her attention. The surprise and relief in her voice started to worry Tomas. "I am so happy you are helping, but why do you sound so relieved yourself? Do you have family in Natales?" "Oh, no," she said. "I live in Buenos Aires with my family. I am pleased because it was only due to what is a very stupid mistake that this ship was ever scheduled to sail for Puerto San Julian in the first place! It cannot possibly unload there; it could never fit. And I am doubly pleased, because the shipper's acceptance of this port as a destination allows us to divert the ship to a proper port at the carrier's expense. Thank you, Tomas! Had this ship continued, not only might it have been sunk by the Chinese fleet, but it would have arrived at some tiny little port where it could never have begun to unload!" Tomas started to sweat. This was either very good or very bad for him. "Tomas, your ship problem is solved. I have redirected this impressive ship to a port that can handle her. She will sail north to Buenos Aires and unload there. We have these really cool cranes that unload them. Sometimes I watch them unload with my daughter; I like to point out the ones that I scheduled! Anyway, please let your Commandante know that we have taken care of his problem. Let me pass you a phone number to call to schedule the line haul of your cargo units once the downloading begins." She clicked her tongue. "They have about 1,050 nautical miles to go once they turn around, and then with it being an unscheduled delivery, could be a wait in the harbor, too. This is what happens when people copy and paste delivery forms, Tomas. Thank you again for calling, and good luck!" Tomas knew that it was good that a giant ship was not about to sail into some tiny harbor or be attacked by the Chinese fleet, but he was still terrified that this would somehow become his fault. After a moment of thought, he called a number on his list of useful inter-agency phone numbers. He called Ejercito, who he had worked with during a natural disaster training exercise, as well as couple times booking trucks during flooding and wildfire events. Tomas rambled, explaining the ship, the Chinese fleet, housing units from the Netherlands, too many details for Ejercito to keep track of. "You just need some tents for a few weeks? Yeah we have tents, just get me a couple trucks and drivers with authority to approach the military exclusion zone around Natales," said Ejercito. "Box houses. From the Netherlands. What the gently caress. Man, just ask for some tents next time! Some of them even have little portable transformers and generators, but you gotta sign for those separate. We could have handled this internally if anyone from the military ever thought to just, I don't know, call us civilian disaster relief experts and explain what you need. Also, you didn't ask, but make sure you contract some portable shitters at no more than a 10:1 ratio, handwashing, etc. There are two different authorized dealers in that area. Don't worry about buses to move them out of Natales, civilian agencies do that stuff for a living. Now go do some army stuff and win the war while the experts manage civilian health and housing." Tomas was spent. He began writing a note to his boss and and filling out the line haul contract paperwork to ship tents to Natales. Puerto San Julian: Puerto Rio Gallegos:

Admiral Ileana Maria Sampaio South American Combined Armada After consultations with SCAD combined command as well as individual flight leads, the following naval orders are to be enacted on or about 21FEB10: Western AO: Argentinean Navy P-3 Orion Patrol Chilean Coast (W1): Having reestablished themselves at El Calafate airport, the P-3 sentries are to resume coastal patrols near Patagonia. The threat of the 2nd PLAN fleet, hostile submarines, J-7 fighters and H-6 bombers remains a major concern. Chilean Fleet Resupply with Supply Fleet West: Having performed exceptionally well, the sailors and aviators of the ARA 25 de Mayo, as well as the Chilean surface warships, are to be commended. Their full strength will be needed if we are to sunder the enemy supply lines through the Strait of Magellan. They are to withdraw into the bay and perform resupply operations with Supply Fleet West. CNS O'Higgins Interdiction of Magdalena Channel at 55°00'42"S 72°35'08"W: The submarine interdiction of ships attempting to enter or exit the Magdalena Channel and resupply the Punta Arenas offensive remains of paramount importance. The CNS O'Higgins is ordered to continue its patrol along the continental shelf. Eastern AO: Argentine Fleet Air Defense at 51°47'46"S 68°41'14"W: While the Argentine fleet has taken losses from the 1st PLAN Fleet offensive (E2), their presence in the area is still required. They protect not only Rio Gallegos, but also the evacuations underway at Puerto Delgado. They are ordered to sail further into the protective cover of the NASAMs at Rio Gallegos, while remaining within range of providing some degree of air defense to the sealift. ARA San Juan ASW for Argentine Fleet: The ARA San Juan shall continue providing anti-submarine warfare patrols for the Argentine Fleet. They shall take a forward position in the hopes of protecting the fleet as well as the mouth near Punta Progreso. It is well-known that the 1st PLAN Fleet (E2) is pushing forward, and some risks must be taken to ward them off. Brazilian Fleet Carrier Group Air Strike DDG SAG (E1): The Brazilian Fleet shall participate in a group air strike against the 3rd PLAN fleet SAG led by a Type 052B Destroyer (E1). The target is believed responsible for attacking the Cargo Ship "Sierra", and remains in the area between San Julian and Port Stanley. The carrier NAel Minas Gerais is ordered to sail slightly southeast, but orient itself WNW to face the wind while launching the attack. Tupi ASW for Brazilian Fleet: The Tupi shall continue making its way south, and move into a blocking position protecting the NAel Gerais and the Brazilian fleet from submarines and other threats. Brazilian Fleet SAG Respond to Cargo Ship "Sierra" SOS: A Surface Action Group (SAG) of the Brazilian Fleet shall be dispatched to respond to the SOS distress call made by the Cargo Ship "Sierra". The SAG shall be composed of the following ships: Independência (Condell class), União (Leander class), Tamandaré (Leander class), and Barroso (La Combattante class). Their orders are to secure the area, render any aid required, and assist the Sierra in getting back underway if possible. If towing is required, tugs may be dispatched from Puerto Santa Cruz to bring the Sierra into harbor. Coast Guard Escort Cargo Ship "Netherlands" to Buenos Aires: After logistics staff resolved the bureaucratic confusion that sent the Cargo Ship "Netherlands" into the heart of a combat area, it was deemed that she was unable to make her delivery and was ordered out of the area. She and her cargo of container housing is now bound for Buenos Aires. The SACA cannot and does not take responsibility for protecting all civilian maritime traffic. Such tasks are the official responsibility of the Prefectura Naval Argentina - or Coast Guard. The Mantilla-class patrol vessel PNA Doctor Manuel Mantilla has been made aware of the Cargo Ship "Netherlands" route and heading, and will accompany the cargo ship to her port of destination, and ensure her safety. Naval Aviation: Jury F/A-18C Air Strike against DDG SAG (E1): US Marine Corps Hornets have been temporarily offered to assist our forces in attacking PLAN forces that have attacked civilian maritime targets. Their orders are as follows: "The F/A-18s will fly from Brasilia AFB, refuel, and join your AO to strike the DDG. In order to execute this mission, they will require CAP escort to the target area, which is to be determined. I expect the engagement will be at sea and out of visual range of the coast. We will not object if CSAD forces engage the rest of the SAG once the DDG is destroyed. The F/A-18s will be loaded with fuel and Harpoons and little else, so escort is a must. Upon completion of the mission, they will conduct aerial refueling and RTB." In coordination with SACC, the CAP escort shall consist of Venom's 4x F-16Cs. Dodge Super Etendard Air Strike against DDG SAG (E1): The recently refurbished Super Etendard strike aircraft (Dodge) shall participate in the strike against the DDG SAG (E1). Their role shall be firing Exocet anti-ship missiles against the Type 052B destroyer, alongside the F/A-18C Harpoons, and destroying it from range. After sinking or disabling the vessel, Dodge shall join Ford in attacking the remaining PLAN ships. Ford A-4 Air Strike against DDG SAG (E1): Flight Ford 3's A-4s are now resupplied and eager to get into the fight. They will be tasked with supporting the air strike, and targeting the support ships after the DDG has been taken out by Dodge and Jury. Arco KC-130 Tanker Mission above NAel Gerais: The KC-130s at El Calafate (Arco) will once again provide refueling assistance if required. They shall orbit the NAel Gerais and refuel F/A-18Cs, A-4s, or any other aviation assets that require it. RC-12 Recon DDG SAG (E1): A recon flight shall be ordered in the vicinity of E1, in order to identify the primary targets and guide strike forces against them. BAE-146 Resupply to Puerto San Julian: Priority munitions shipments are urgently required to be made from Rio de Janeiro (SBGL) to Puerto San Julian (SAWJ). It is understood that this is 3 ISO containers of Harpoons (Priority 1), and three ISO containers of Exocets (Priority 2), which may be carried in three separate BAE-146 flights. Air Mobility Officer Lt. Crab has been contacted regarding the importance of these shipments. Naval logistics may follow up with additional charter information if required. «Irse a pique antes que rendir el pabellón!« Kaal fucked around with this message at 13:37 on Nov 1, 2023 |

General of the Combined Armies, CSAD Update on the Ground War The last Air Operation on the 19th was a fine day for our aviators. They did us proud with the valiant work they did in dropping the bridges to slow the PLA advance. The retreat from TDF was well underway on the 19th, and due to some great work by our logisticians we got the entire Argentinian 11th Mechanized Brigade off of the island in the evening of the 20th. I can't overstate how much the air force's efforts contributed to one of the hardest things a military can do, transporting large amounts of troops over a vulnerable sealift corridor in a contested warzone. So.. It's official, we have ceded the island of Tierra Del Fuego to the PLA. As much as it pained me to order the retreat from territory that our troops have fought hard over and died to protect, this was the only course of action we had available to us. The PLA's logistical tail is shortest to TDF, they have a S-300 SAM system in place, and our Intel has shown that the PLA was building up combat power for a likely final push on the northern tip of the island that we held. The forces that are conducting operations from Punta Arenas have a much longer logistics route to keep them supplied, which makes them their more exposed unit, long term. They're already on the mainland, and we've determined that our best chance at repelling the Occupiers is to draw them into the hills and mountains of Patagonia and give 'em hell. Orders for the Brigades to follow Seamos libres, que lo demás no importa nada! General Humberto, EA

General of the Combined Armies, CSAD Brigade Movement Orders Here are the movement orders for the Brigades: AR 9th Mech BDE The 9th is to wait for the 1st BDE to arrive on HWY 255, and then displace North to the Puesto Rivero/Gladis area. They are to have their engineer unit to proceed to the north side of the Rio Dinamarquero and start preparing entrenched fighting positions on the north side of the river, while the brigade acts as a screen in front of them. AR 1st Armored BDE The 1st Armored is to dig in and prepare defensive positions from the ridgeline by Santa Maria to the Strait. The artillery and recon are to deploy on the ridgeline above them AR 11th BDE The 11th has had a very challenging time recently. They are to regroup at the former site of the Bolsa de Tenancia supply base, and get a day of rest. They are then to prepare themselves to be deployed, as they'll be held in reserve CL Punta Arenas BG The Chilean battlegroup is to array themselves as shown here. The heavier mechanized units are to dig in along the highway between the hills and the lake, and the infantry are to deploy on the east side of the lake and in the hills to the west. We will need those chaparrals moved by Air freight, and we need to rebalance the placement of our anti-aircraft defenses. Expect orders on that to follow Seamos libres, que lo demás no importa nada! This location allows it to be partially obscured by the bluffs to the East which should protect it from being picked up on naval radars from the open waters, and it's also far enough away from Tierra del Fuego that tube artillery can't take it out. The captain and crew are to be requested to stay in Rio Gallagos with full pay, until their services are required again.

The Mountain Troop of the Chilean Lautaro Special Ops Brigade has monitored and held the radar site at Vasquez Glacier for days now. Despite it only being autumn, up there it is very cold even with occasional snowfall. The C-130s dropped the Roland SAM vehicle, and some Argentine Paratroopers trained in the use of it. Container of food and basic supplies was received as well. However, intel points out that the PLAN is intending to attack the site, possibly with the intent of re-capture. It is evident that keeping these radars online is an affair with an expiration. However, right now the Group Commander of the Mountain Troop (forums poster Yooper) has orders to hold the site. The Argentine Air Defenders will be under your command for this mission. It is not known what direction the enemy will come from, nor how. It is up to you to organize the small team to best prepare for the defence. You will all start at the radar site in the middle, and you will have an unknown time ingame to move to your positions as you deem fit. The Chilean team will hold what they have. Luckily now there is no shortage of air dropped ammunition. Vahakyla fucked around with this message at 20:09 on Nov 1, 2023 |

Combined Air Combat Command – SCAD Good evening, all, It seems that the update structure for mission briefings has been working out well for us. As such we are going to stick with the same structure and map usage. Flight leads, pens out eyes on the PowerPoint here’s your missions: MAP HERE PEOPLE VENOM and PONTIAC – Your objective is to provide escort to and CAP during the naval strike operations occurring to the north east of point CESAR (with naval air assets DODGE, FORD and JURY). You are to secure air superiority ahead of the strike and maintain throughout the duration until either all Naval aircraft have completed their objective or until flight lead determines it is no longer viable to do so. Advice to FLIGHT LEAD naval KC-130 tanker will be providing air refuelling services above Nael Gerais if required. COLT - Your objective is to provide BARCAP against rogue cruise missiles fired by PLAN forces, operating in the vicinity of SAWG MOA and point SOCCR. You are to secure air superiority in the area and be ready to intercept any hostile incursions. You are to remain on station until cessation of daily operations. CHEVY – Grounded for today pending servicing. PANTHER 1 AND 2 - Your objective is to provide BARCAP across our front line area consisting of our currently held sides of AO ARROW (Panther 1) and AO BOLT (Panther 2). You are to secure air superior of the area and intercept PLAF aircraft and cruise missiles passing through your air space. You are to remain on station until cessation of daily operations. General of the Combined Armies, CSAD Good forward thinking on raising this point Yooper. Given that we've committed a Roland and some extra manpower to defending this site, and the very valuable information we've already gleaned from holding it, we need to hold this position fiercely and accept some degree of casualties. If the odds are absolutely overwhelming against your forces, I leave the call to you on whether to retreat at that point, probably in a NW direction towards the fleet in the fjords. Rig the main radome to blow at the start of the mission, but only destroy it if there's absolutely no chance of retaking it. Try to move and utilize all of the defensive emplacements such as HMG's that the PLA left behind, the reports showed that the PLA didn't have them placed at very optimal positions. If you do need to retreat, make sure you bring the Roland along with you as far as you can, it should provide some limited coverage against their rotary aviation and help cover the retreat, not to mention act as a moving bit of cover from small arms. Make sure the radar operator is feeding you the direction the helicopters are approaching from, that should give the Roland some early heads up and the right way to look. The Roland was also delivered with it's early warning radar accessory unit, so you should see the PLA helicopters coming from a long way out. Seamos libres, que lo demás no importa nada! GARY 1 2x C-101CC 1-1: Vaha 1-2: Breaky We are the newest addition. We're close to a one trick pony, with having access to some heater missiles, dumb bombs, and the Sea Eagle Anti-ship Missile. We do not have radio nor datalink and thus have no way of knowing where the ships are, and will rely on other plane or Air Battle Manager to guide us. However, the Sea Eagle is quite capable and if they get on target, will cause significant damage. We intend to use them in conjuction with Dodge's Exocets and Jury's Harpoons, launched roughly at the same time. Armament: Only the Sea Eagles, no heaters or gun to save weight. Cruise at Mach .6 towards magnetic heading 097, which is direction of ARIEL until established in formation with Jury's Hornets and Dodge's Super Etendards. Point CESAR serves as a reference of rough midpoint on a west-east axis. Closest airfield to return is San Julian, TACAN 42X SJU.

Mayor Rachel "Karrick" Paredes, Escuadrón Aéreo 612 09:15, February 19, 2010 Northwest of Punta Arenas, Eastern Magallanes Province, Chile “¡Hijo de puta!” Mayor Rachel Paredes watched her parachute as the wind carried it across the scrubby plain. She’d been hoping to keep it – the fabric and cordage would have come in handy in the near future. “Ahhh… better than being dragged back to Punta Arenas.” She’d seen the airport and the nearby tank farm on the way down, giving her a good chance to get oriented after the rather abrupt end to her flight. “Better get moving, no telling when those pendejos will come looking for me.” Grabbing her survival kit, she set off for the tree line. “Hell, maybe that chingate parachute will send them looking somewhere else.” 10:20, February 19, 2010 Northwest of Punta Arenas, Eastern Magallanes Province, Chile “¡a su madre!” Rachel hissed. The end of this stand of trees had revealed what looked like a large estancia a little over a mile off… and directly in her way. “Sheep farmers, I bet. No telling what they’ll do if they spot me. Better to go around.” She paused, about to rise. Was that… yes! The sound of a helicopter in the distance. “Mierda.” There was too much open ground to cross. She waited. 16:35, February 19, 2010 Northwest of Punta Arenas, Eastern Magallanes Province, Chile At her best guess, Rachel had covered about 9 miles. The terrain was almost flat, a few small rises but nothing like hiking in the Andes back home. She’d made good time, all things considered. It had taken half an hour for the sound of the helicopter to fade. She’d waited a bit longer just to be sure. Circumventing that estancia had cost her more time, requiring her to clear a barbed wire fence and cross a road. There had been no sign of activity in the estancia, but it was war time and who knows? The stands of trees had grown fewer as she’d moved North. Rachel stopped at one of the few patches remaining. She’d taken opportunity to fill the water containers in her survival kit from a small stream, but there hadn’t been any cover so she’d moved on as soon as they were full. Digging through the kit again, she found the purification tablets and dropped them into the containers. Leaving them to sit, she eyed the emergency rations suspiciously. “Here I am without even a tray,” she sighed. 18:35, February 19, 2010 South of Los Coipos, Eastern Magallanes Province, Chile Having spotted some vehicle traffic in the distance up ahead and with the light level dropping, Rachel knew she had some work to prepare for nightfall. Her best guess was that the vehicles she’d spotted were on the East-West running Y-50, which meant she was likely near the abandoned supply dump at Los Coipos… that intel had said was now in enemy hands. She’d found a stand of the small, densely packed scrubby conifers that dotted the region and decided to start setting up camp before it was too dark. Her kit had a thermal blanket and she’d gathered some fallen branches for camouflage and additional insulation. It wasn’t going to be a comfortable night, with predicted temperatures below freezing, so she’d also dug out a small Dakota fire hole under one of the trees. She’d figured the site was as inconspicuous as she could make. She’d just have to hope a patrol didn’t stumble directly across it while she slept. 14:00, February 20, 2010 Northwest of Los Coipos, Eastern Magallanes Province, Chile Rachel had broken camp in darkness and managed to cross the road she’d seen in the predawn twilight. Continuing Northwest she’d found a dirt road running between two lakes. It was risky, but the road didn’t look recently used and the extra speed seemed to have been worth it – especially given the increasingly hilly terrain. From here it should be a straight shot north to intersect Ruta 9 and if she was lucky, catch some friendly troops before they pulled back. 06:32, February 21, 2010 Puerto Natales, Última Esperanza Province, Chile The door to Escuadrón Aéreo 612’s improvised ready room slammed open. “Buenos días, mis valientes pi… lo.. tos...” Rachel stopped, surprised to find the room empty. She’d heard from a guard that there was a sortie planned this morning when her ride dropped her at the airport gate. She’d made a note to have a future discussion about opsec with base security, but for now she needed pilots and there were none to be found. Circling the room, she stopped at the bulletin board. Front and center was a notice reading, “Servicios al Mayor Paredes, 06:30.” She blinked. “A funeral!? ¡Cabrones!” Apologies for the above, I have at best a superficial understanding of wilderness survival, SERE, Spanish, and uh... writing. I shouldn't have to say it but please do not use this as a guide for romping around Torres del Paine National Park (but maybe still visit with proper preparation, it looks pretty) Approximate route prior to getting picked up by friendly troops: Colt 1 & Colt 2 Debrief Kills: 2x J-7. 1 each for Pyg and Stimperor (and 2 for Breaky in our collective fever dream) Losses: myself (flight lead is a dummy) Mission status: Qualified success. No strikers damaged, but a plane down under preventable circumstances. Went well: Intra-flight Communications - in general. 3 and 4 also kept up good coordination while hunting a pair of contacts. Not so well: There was a pre-mission communications lapse - I wasn't aware that point INDEPENDIENTE had been renamed to COLO. Not sure if it wasn't explicitly called out or I just missed it. Either way, ABM didn't have the old name visible and couldn't route me to a point that didn't exist when I asked. In the first mission attempt we used Bullseye, which lead to Breaky and I being further south and exchanging 2 MiG 29s for 2 J-7s. We corrected in the second mission attempt and were actually where we should have been (for most of the mission) I got shot down. I strayed too far south hunting cruise missiles. ABM indicated it was optional, but I judged the interception important enough to try. Lo and behold I might have tried a different approach had I realized how far south I was getting. In better weather, visuals would have been enough to see where I was. In BVR mode the nav marker isn't floating there on your HUD and I was focused on finding using my radar to find the missiles instead of keeping track of distance to my last waypoint. Communication with ABM - I missed giving the codeword that indicated our CAP was on station and airspace was clear. Colts 3 and 4 had to turn around and be vectored onto the same bandits a second time because of a mix up with ABM. They still managed to clear that up and get the kills. Overall, very happy with my flight members but still getting used to being a flight leader. Aaaaand, because I'm late with this... Colt 1 Briefing Assets: 2x MiG-29S Flight Frequency: 134.00MHz ABM Frequency: 261.00MHz Air Base: Puerto Natales Loadout: 1 center tank,1x R-27ER, 1x R-27ET, 4x R-73 Intent: Provide BARCAP South of tanker track in the vicinity of Rio Gallegos. Note: If using the return nav mode Puerto Natales is #12. Plan is to fly heading 090 from Puerto Natales until we find Rio Gallegos, at which point we will turn to (roughly) 045, head about 40km, turn around for 80km, and repeat as necessary/fuel permits. Flight out will be at 7000 meters but we will likely have to get real low if cruise missiles come our way. Expected Threats: We aren't expecting any hostile aircraft - the J-7s have been severely attrited. Still, they may try something. Cruise missiles are also a possibility. (Unfortunately, work related events this week have monopolized my time and mental capital so this briefing... is brief, and MS Paint.) Mission TASMO/SUPPORT After the events of our last sortie, Ford flight blacked out on the way home. We came to to find ourselves aboard the Brazilian aircraft carrier, Nael Minas Gerais, with no idea how we got there. Our trap sheets are blank and the Gerais's LSO cannot recall waving any Argentinian scooters aboard but the boat's flight maintainers did find numerous airline bottles of liquor scattered around our cockpits which were quietly disposed of. Command has prepared a large strike package to attack and sink a PLAN destroyer causing trouble in the Atlantic. We're running support on this mission and our job will be to clean up remaining enemy vessels after the pointy nose go fast assets finish sinking the destroyer itself. The remainder of the enemy fleet is made up of corvettes and frigates which we have plenty of experience dealing with. Loadout

Admiral Ileana Maria Sampaio South American Combined Armada To the flight leads for Venom, Pontiac, Ford, Gary, Dodge, and Jury: The following joint operation plan codenamed SOUTHERN COMFORT is available for your review. Note the distances involved: GATOR > ARIEL is 450 km / 250 nmi. CESAR > ARIEL is 285 km / 150 nmi. Drogue tanking is available from Arco, and Boom tanking is available from Shell. In brief: The strike flights will form up and travel to WP ARIEL while the CAP flights clear the airspace (E1) of enemy J-11 fighters. Jury will identify the target and they, Gary, and Dodge will attack the DDG from outside its air defense range. Once the DDG is sunk, Condition Alpha will be issued, and Ford will attack the remaining escorts. The primary strike target is a Type 052b Destroyer (DDG) leading a Surface Action Group (SAG). The DDG is believed responsible for attacking Cargo Ship "Sierra", a civilian maritime vessel that was returning north after delivering critically-needed air defense equipment to Puerto Rio Gallegos. USSOUTHCOM has made available a flight of US Marine Corps F/A-18C Hornet strike fighters equipped with Harpoon anti-ship missiles. for the purposes of destroying the DDG and preserving the freedom of navigation through the Argentinean Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Additionally, the Argentinean and Chilean Air Forces have offered additional attack aircraft in the form of Super Étendards and C-101 Aviojets, respectively. While the supply of Exocet and Sea Eagle missiles remains limited for now, their contributions to the fight will be vital. Intelligence indicates that the DDG SAG has traveled approximately 195 km / 105 nmi east since attacking the "Sierra". Their current heading and disposition remains unclear. Escorting that target is believed to be two Tarantul / Molniya corvettes. Additionally, a Grisha corvette and an oiler resupply vessel are believed to be exiting the area further east. This is our opportunity to damage the 3rd PLAN Fleet while it is divided. Also expected are J-11 fighters from Islas Malvinas. They are armed with R-77 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles that are considered AMRAAM-equivalent, so keep your distance to the northwest until the CAP can clear the airspace: https://dzsek.github.io/dcsdb/#/aircraft/j11a Weather on the day of the mission will be sunny but windy from the WNW: Good hunting! «Irse a pique antes que rendir el pabellón!« Kaal fucked around with this message at 18:00 on Nov 3, 2023 |

Admiral Ileana Maria Sampaio South American Combined Armada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXQ_8e63wmE&t=9s Quartéis gerais, quartéis gerais! Todos os tripulantes controlam seus postos de batalha. General quarters, general quarters! All hands man your battlestations. Set Condition 1 throughout the ship. All hands, this is the Admiral. Naval intelligence reports that it has detected the Type 052b PLAN destroyer and its escorts nearby - and rather than retreating they are headed directly for the NAel Minas Gerais! The fleet is 120nm away, bearing 090, and proceeding at flank speed. We are attempting to maneuver away, but our best estimates indicate that the hostile SAG will likely reach firing distance of our carrier fleet within 40 minutes of our being able to sortie our aircraft. The NAel Gerais and her fleet shall deploy her available aircraft and organize for air defense. Sailors man your battle stations. The Brazilian and Colombian Marine companies onboard will review damage control procedures. Flight leads assemble your pilots and prepare for combat. This is not a drill. In a direct exchange of firepower, it is unlikely that our older ships would survive an encounter with a modern Chinese missile destroyer. Time will therefore be of the essence. However, it is the belief of the admiralty that the PLAN remains unaware of the potent reinforcements that we have brought to bear. The American Hornets, Argentine Super Étendards, and Chilean Aviojets will provide the hammer our skilled naval aviators have been waiting for to crush the PLAN ships on the open ocean, while some of our best air superiority fighters are poised to wreck havoc on any unprepared Chinese J-11s expecting an easy prey. Our best option is to proceed with Operation Southern Comfort as planned, destroy that surface group and erase the threat before it can strike. All flights are ordered to stay the course and maintain their existing flight plans. If we work together, we will win the day. However, Ford-3 is given the heavy burden of one additional task: If the initial strikes are not successful and Condition Alpha is not achieved, as the one uncommitted flight it will likely be up to you to choose between attempting to shoot down the DDG's YJ-83 anti-ship cruise missiles, or doing what you can to take out the destroyer - regardless of the cost. There is a clock, ladies and gentlemen. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Let's get this done, or we won't have a ship to come home to. «Irse a pique antes que rendir el pabellón!«
