Might dump some more historic pics Mackay, QLD, 1969. Railway Square, Sydney, early 60's. Spring Hill, Brisbane, 1973. Golden Grove St/Rose St, Golden Grove, Sydney, mid 70's. The suburb of Golden Grove was incorporated into Newtown, though remains a small locality. the factories are gone and are now social housing. The pictured end of Rose St is gone and is now part of USYD. Ship Inn, Vulture St, Brisbane, 1985. Floods in Maitland, NSW, 1949.

Bit of childhood terror there, when I was a lad we watched some Aussie soap where a guy "gassed himself" in his apartment, they banged on the door and got no replay but smelled gas and they were like "oh well he's dead". We went to Brissy on the train and I was convinced those Spring Hill hotels was where it happened. Maximum Sexy Pigeon posted:Golden Grove St/Rose St, Golden Grove, Sydney, mid 70's. The Proclamation was published in the New South Wales Government Gazette No.144, Thursday 23 May, 1872, page 1333. The Proclamation was authorised under the provisions of the “Municipalities Act of 1867”. The name of the of the “Municipality of Macdonaldtown” was altered from and after the passing of the Act to the “Borough of Erskineville” by Act of Parliament entitled “Borough of Erskineville Naming Act of 1893”, assented to on the 27 March, 1893. The Act was passed under the authority of the “Municipalities Act of 1867”. The “Municipality of Erskineville” was amalgamated with and absorbed into the City of Sydney in accordance with the provisions of the “Local Government (Areas) Act”, No. 30 1948, which came into effect on the 1st January, 1949.

Flooding at MacDonald St bridge, 1969 Terminating road, Munni St, 1986 Backyards and terraces, 1936 Knight St, c1977 Bridge St, c1977 Gowrie St, c1977 Rose of Australia Hotel and Erskineville Station, c1977 Shops on Swanson St next to station bridge, long since demolished. c1977 Malcolm Motors, 198-208 George St (Now terrace apartments). c1977 Flora St, 1983 I love the grimy look, and the lack of trees makes for great views, but you know that whole place would be HOT AS poo poo in summer because of it. Remember that whenever boomers n poo poo say it was just as hot when they were young, it's because there were no fkn trees. If it's just as hot now WITH trees, poo poo's bad.
