The problem there (and I believe also with Watkins Glen) is they wouldn’t be minor changes, and - crucially - there isn’t much land to extend runoff areas into. You would wind up majorly changing the layout to suit F1, plus add in an entire pit garage complex that doesn’t exist now.

The best compromise is going back to Indy, honestly.

Wonder if Sonoma is a better option. You'd pretty much have to ruin the Glen to get it to grade 1, I'd rather not.

I was listening to the Shift+F1 podcast today and Mario Isola was quoted to say that the Barcelona data doesn't work because it's a higher energy circuit compared to Las Vegas and the idea of increasing the tire blanket temperatures is being toyed with.

The engines are preheated in the garage by external oil heater/circulators, and those are also used during race start procedures. I’d worry more about brake tempts and brake duct adjustment, getting that wrong and the potential for very finicky tires could be a way worse combo.

Yeah, mentioned later on in that podcast was that teams should have everything figured out before race time. The components people are concerned about aren't part of the ICE, fwiw.

But Ferrari exist, sooo...

The numbers around these projections are always insane and based on fake accounting but that's still wildly excessive.

To think an F1 race that also kills the local economy for months, including DURING the weekend itself apparently, will outdo the Super Bowl.. lol

I think if they seriously streamline the track setup and F1 gains further US prominence then maybe 4-5 years from now it'll be a net positive.

"I wasn’t planning on staying on the Las Vegas Strip for the race. When hotel rates for race week were first announced last year they made local and national headlines with prices raised more than 300% above usual for this time of year. The Flamingo, for example, was charging a nightly rate of $899 for race week last year but on Wednesday I booked a room at the historic hotel for $18. Yes, $18."
