while 2,500 sorties in nine weeks is still far less than the Navy’s old-school sortie generation testing goal of around 4,800 sorties over the course of thirty days, it isn’t half bad A quarter of the required testing goal is in fact statistically worse than half bad.

How are young people in America even being sold on recruitment nowadays besides the military helping out with debt/tuition and whatnot?

Mostly they just scramble to intercept private pilots whose transponders have died. Nothing else is even kept armed, unless they are going to the training range. The typical British person would poo poo themselves if they had any idea just how wide open the country is to attack. $58 billion spent on the military this year and our airspace is defended by 5 loving planes lol.

Also, the Ford is making on average 63 stories a day, but statistically speaking only around 65% of them are F-18s, which is around 40 stories a day. That doesn't really seem like an extreme amount to be honest if they are preparing for an immediate combat situation. Maybe there is a reason the US has been surprisingly soft on Hezbollah.

For it is a widely recognized defect of Anglo-Saxon liberal theory that men would never die for a country based merely on the principle of rational self-preservation. The argument that men would risk their lives to protect ·their property or their families ultimately fails, for property exists by liberal theory only for the sake of self-preservation, and not the other way around. It would always be possible to leave the country with one's family and money, or to evade the draft. The fact that citizens of liberal countries do not all seek to evade military service reflects the fact that they are motivated by factors like pride and honor. And pride, as we know, was precisely the characteristic that had to be subdued by the mighty Leviathan constituted by the liberal state." Western militaries, particularly since the GWOT, particularly since it ended in defeat, don't offer material benefits, and definitely don't offer pride and honour.

I suppose if you're only looking for computer touchers and someone to guard a military base in Korea than that kind of crowd should be enough, but what about honest-to-god combatants? People who go out and die in a glorious battle? Jimmy, who enlisted during peacetime because he was in debt and didn't know that WW3 was about to break out isn't gonna have a lot of fighting morale.

We’re extremely interested in theirs,” he said. “Because it is a capability; the ability to put something in orbit, do some things, and bring it home and take a look at the results is powerful. And so these are two of the most watched objects on orbit while they’re on orbit. It’s probably no coincidence that they’re trying to match us in timing and sequence of this.”
