I'm pretty online but this thread is the first time I've heard of Replika. The Sarah Z video is an interesting summary, thanks for recommending it.

I’d be all for AI waifus if they can be programmed to teach incels to become more comfortable in sharing their feelings and being generally less terrible, like as a sort of disguised rehabilitation program. It would have to be very subtle in the approach so that the incels don’t stop using them, so it’d have to be considerably more sophisticated than what’s already available
