Ken's just better at the job than she was. He's charismatic and has a good report with the contestants on top of being a Jeopardy! legend. Whereas Mayim was never really liked and has a sort of forced lizard-person demeanor. I never got why they kept her around for so long when everyone clearly liked Ken better.

It's actually kind of incredible how badly they botched the whole Jeopardy host thing. They knew Trebek had cancer for a long time you'd think they could have handled it better.

For those not up to date on Jeopardy lore, the former Executive Producer of Jeopardy was Mike Richards, a scummy sort of dude who had previously hosted game shows and aspired to host Jeopardy. It appears that the entire rotating host gimmick was his idea to create an opening/excuse for himself to host a few weeks and then at the end of the process announce himself as the new host. Similar to, as Ken Jennings put it on a podcast, Dick Cheney tasked to find the best Veep for GWB and then concluding it was himself.

I think Mike Richards got through one (1) day of shooting as the official new host until one of the various scandals/issues from his past (I forget which one) gained traction and he was fired.

From there Sony got Mayim Bialik who they apparently wanted from the start because she was famous and had played a smart person on a popular sitcom, but since she was already somewhat busy on another sitcom she couldn't commit to the entire season so when she was unavailable they decided to have Ken Jennings fill in who is who everyone except Sony wanted in the first place.

..... When Pat Sajak announced his retirement Wheel of Fortune's EP simply hired Ryan Seacrest a few weeks later and then went back to counting their money in Beverly Hills.

lol, I had forgotten about that guy. If I remember correctly he was trying to play like he was "stepping up" to fill in for Trebek during this trying time when it was obvious he wanted the job.

i seem to remember trebek told them multiple times "ok so when i die you gotta give the show to ken ive been grooming him for years now and hes great at it" and this was just sort of ignored so some rear end in a top hat producer could set up an audition where everyone was set up to fail to he could use that as an excuse to take over the show himself

It's always amusing when TV shows portray ex military police like they're some sort of supercop, with incredible investigation skills and badass fighting chops.

I had a great time with season 1 of Reacher, which was patently ridiculous and knew that it was. Favourite moments:

* Even Reacher's parents call him "Reacher"
* How the show stops occasionally for the characters to explain the plot out loud
* Reacher constantly and casually committing crimes because, you know, he needs to so he can solve this other crime
