It's probably a cast iron frame with a fiberglass body and a slab of lead-acid batteries with a top speed of 45 mph. Objectively safer than the Cybertruck

Theyre not as bad, how like in 20 years if someone finds their countertops are engineered stone it wont turn the house into a hazmat funhouse, all that terrible for you needle like silica is locked in place with resin, but it is a major occupational hazard to stone workers since theyre ones cutting and sanding them and making the silica fly.

So I'm sure the answer is "lol" but let's for a second assume that the CYBRTRCK can actually seal against water intrusion and somehow float. How does it actually move those 100m? Is it like the Lotus in that one Bond movie and there's a propeller hidden away?

I thought maybe Elon was gonna go back to those gas thrusters for better maneuvering he was yammering about years ago, but someone mentioned that some amphibious military vehicles are actually set up to get thrust in water somehow via their wheels. But I'm sure that's an engineering challenge far outside what you'd see in a commercial vehicle, even if the whole idea wasn't just one of a million stupid ideas Elon's mushbrain made up because he thought it sounded cool.

The chassis has specially designed outlets that route the superheated gases from a high temp battery fire to the rear of the vehicle, providing forward thrust once the electrical array self ignites after being soaked in water.

If the wheels are not entirely submerged I guess you could use them as tremendously inefficient paddle wheels

If you imagined the CEO of Ford saying this or something, it’s bone-dry humor that’s loving hilarious.

But he’s such an rear end in a top hat that you have to assume he’s being serious and is actively firing engineers who dare disagree with him about it.

Oh he's serious, he's still tweeting about it now. The last one I saw from the other day promised 100m water travel distance, with the only remaining engineering hurdle being better door seals or something :jerkbag:

Some guy suggested mounting a 12v outboard to the cybertruck and hooking into the 12v in the bed and Elon said they just need to figure out the seals

Im pretty sure Elon thinks/is being told everything can just get fixed OTA at this point

It could just move with the current. Or open a window and paddle.

You should open the window anyway, because if they manage to actually make the thing waterproof they'll probably gently caress up in the other direction and be a suffocation hazard.

He didn't say you'd be able to control which direction you travel that 100m in.
