Can someone remind me about why Apes are so devoted to Ryan Cohen? What did he do to win them over? I assume at some point he must have been more public in his support for meme stock investors. Right now, in /r/Teddy and /r/BBBY all of the talk seems to refocus on the basis of the "play" being centered on Ryan Cohen and, for people that still believe Pulte, RC liking Pulte's tweets as recently as December.

So, it's laid out in This Is Financial Advice, but since "Watch this three hour video" is a lovely thing to say for such a simple question, I'll do my best to explain. RC is mostly an accident of history and timing. Right as apes were buying in to the first big rush of GameStop stock during the initial run-up to $500, he was making a play to be on the board and do some of his dumbass bullshit. Because he was willing to play ball with and obliquely engage the apes through memes and vague tweets, they latched on to him in some parasocial bullshit that turned into a full-blown obsession as the ranks of apes whittled down to the absolute gorrilionare true believers and he continued to obliquely and explicitly court their attention.

Thanks! I’ve watched TiFA several times, but must have glossed over this bit. It’s just so relatively minor for the level of devotion they have to him. I suppose sunk cost will do that.

I’m pretty sure that it was also wallstreetbets memeing turned real. It’s a thing there to hype up the CEOs and prominent investors of stocks they’re long on ironically. For example Lisa Su of AMD was memed about quite a lot. As with all ironic posting eventually it became authentic.

Cohen also bought like 10% of BBBY at some point and abused the company's buyback program to sneakily promote the stock, then quickly sold his share once the apes obediently pumped the price even higher. As you'd expect, the apes consider this not as a cheap con that left them holding the bag, but a secret, ongoing holy mission entrusted to the faithful that will reward those who refused to sell their stocks with 72 lambos after the second coming of Bed Bath and Beyond.

His promotion consisted of tweeting emoticons that apes used. And of course they fell for it hook line and sucker.

RE: ongoing email dialogue between some ape and the BBBY plan administrator:some other ape posted:I just so don’t see much benefit in these emails. If the PA is a bad actor, they now know more about what apes are up to and what they are capable of. If he’s neutral then he’s not going to divulge anything that’s going on. Really it just tipped them off that maybe apes aren’t quite the pushovers they thought. Am I wrong? The danger here is that the plan administrator is tipped off about what the apes are truly capable of.

I really love how every theory of theirs starts with the premise that they are geniuses so that any discord or conflict must be the rest of the world trying to discredit them. Surely the drama is not because they are all insane people who spend dozens of hours a week fighting over the dead corpse of a big box housewares store and fantasizing about which billionaire is going to reward them with free money.

They're financial geniuses when they're doing their due diligence but when they're taken to task for their financial advice they're all "I'm just a big dumb ape, don't take my speculation seriously, this is not financial advice," kind of like how bitcoin was either a currency or a security depending on which laws they were trying to skirt.

This reminds me of all the squabbling that happened inside Hitler's inner circle when he killed himself. The war was lost, the enemy was literally at the gates, there was nothing left to govern, but they immediately started backstabbing each other over who would become the new Fuhrer and rule over the ashes for a hot minute.

I guess it must the frog-in-a-pot effect but I can't imagine anyone coordinating between applying gematria to digital clocks in the back of zoom screenshots, maps, and children's book illustrations to divine something about the future of a publicly traded company. It's storing-your-own-urine-in-jars insane and anybody coming into this community from cold and harsh reality must see this as the ravings of a complete lunatic. I'm curious how many apes there are left, they can't possibly be recruiting anyone with this wild bullshit and they are probably shedding membership daily.

I googled it and apparently it is part of an ongoing search to find any connection between RC and anything they are obsessing over, and RC has twice tweeted with a 7:41 timestamp. So it's obviously super duper important.
