fuctifino posted:I find the whole "he doesn't look 16" to be really uncomfortable, just as I found it uncomfortable when racists were screaming the same at young male asylum seekers. Some people just age quickly, and I remember a few people at my school who looked in their 30's and 40's when they were 16. I'm an old out of touch hermit, but isn't this a form of body shaming? The racists are way ahead of you on this one…

Who knows anything about the correct way of measuring building height for the purposes of the 2022 Building Act? I've seen two different ways which result in a difference of around 2m (probably critical for this building!) First way: Source: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2022/30/section/118/enacted#:~:text=(2)The%20height%20of%20a,of%20machinery%20or%20plant%20rooms). quote:(2)The height of a building is to be measured from ground level to the finished surface of the floor of the top storey of the building (ignoring any storey which is a roof-top machinery or plant area or consists exclusively of machinery or plant rooms). Ours is 3 storey in parts and I interpret this version to mean from the ground to the top of the carpet on the 2nd floor corridor. Second way: Source: https://www.ths-concepts.co.uk/buil...plant%20rooms). quote:What Is Considered Top Floor Height (Apart from as a leaseholder-owned building we aren't a 'relevant building' anyway! source: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/definition-of-relevant-building)

Labour: pwease give us more money, we don't have enough Also Labour: let's pay for a bunch of ads to run on the website of a group of people who are 100% guaranteed to not vote for us I see the sensible politicians have arrived [edit] Actually, I'm pretty sure this is just them trying to score some media coverage by being "edgy and subversive" (or however the coke-fiend who had the idea phrased it) I guess if you're too poor to afford policies, maybe lame gimmicks are cheaper? kingturnip fucked around with this message at 12:03 on Jan 5, 2024 |

I suppose it works as a "make the other voters stay at home" tactic. A bit like the "Johnson [handshake meme] Corbyn: 50,000 more cops, 10 new detention centres" memes directed at the left in 2019.

Guavanaut posted:I suppose it works as a "make the other voters stay at home" tactic. Yeah, but the limited numbers of regular people visiting Conservative Home seem like a fairly reliable bloc of voters. I guess if your plan is for them to vote Reform UK instead, maybe that's worth it with PR, but we've seen how well "let them vote for this niche far-right group instead, lol" has worked for the UK in the past.

serious gaylord posted:The answer is unfortunately 'it depends on who comes out' I fear you are right. One of the flats is for sale and I'm the muggins who has to answer the solicitor's queries. I've now told them if they want a building height (which I don't believe we have to provide anyway), then they'll have to pay for a professional measurement and say how they want it calculated. Don't see why I should have to do it. Noone's ever asked for it before & I'm not qualified.

My beautiful old Labrador Lexi might be dying she’s off to the vets this afternoon to find out what’s up with her. She’s still able to go on little walks but hasn’t been eating the last few days apparently, except rice pudding and some of her favourites. I hope I’m just being daft and she’s just sick as does happen from time to time but I am, nonetheless, sat crying in my car in the Sainsbury’s car park. Hold your beloved pets close.

There's a rare flood alert for my local river, which extends a couple of hundred metres from my house, but apparently the river level's falling, so I'm just gonna sit here playing video games. I'm sure it'll be fine.

My old collie has given us a few scares over the last couple of years but so far it has been because he's snaffled something he shouldn't have from a hedge.
