My kid loves Elmo and Abby. It's kinda torture. I do like Cookie Monster and Gonger, and it's darkly hilarious to me that 100% of their "let's learn where this food comes from" segments are about vegetarian things.

it's too bad regional shows aren't a thing anymore. we had this show called paint pot alley, made by some dude named happy. he drove around in a buick roadmaster done up in crazy colors with a bunch of poo poo on it and I'd see him sometimes when I was out with my mom and he'd wave and i'd get so loving pumped

I wonder if the name Lamb Chop was a cruel power move by her owner. Like every time you call Lamb Chop by her name, it's a reminder that she has no power over her own fate, and that at any moment she could be butchered and cooked if she displeased somebody, or even just on a whim.

Chick Fil-A is disgusting for obvious reasons, but even before I knew they were a Christo-fascist LGBT-hating megacorp, I had seen their "mascot" which is a cow pleading for you to eat at Chick Fil-A, because presumably otherwise she will be slaughtered and eaten?? gently caress this gross fuckin place

I do think their chicken is disappointingly tasty, but yeah they give off serious bad vibes. One thing that creeps me is their "good teenagers" working outside in the perpetually crowded drive-thru lane in any weather.

The Adult Happy Meals.

They've done them twice, people seemed to go crazy for them, I don't care about the toys or any of it.

Maybe it's just me, though. I might have found it amusing if they'd did the AHM with something like a new series of Batman Returns-branded toys considering the return of Keaton Batman a few months back and how bad the reaction to the Batman Returns/Happy Meal tie-in was 30 years ago.

Sesame Street I remember thinking was okay, but I get really melancholic with any media where a big guy is sad, and a lot of Sesame Street seemed to be focused around Big Bird kicking cans because he's just learned what death is or whatever.

I don't like The Curse. It's boring.

Yeah I’m a Nathan for You fan & thought Rehearsal was good if flawed, but Curse feels like a misguided premise. He’s fantastic at creating elaborate socially awkward situations with absurd ideas, but trying to apply that to a scripted show doesn’t work as it takes away the spontaneity. Like when he’s trying to break into the casino computer it just drags, and the reactions of other characters are too predictable.

Fundamentally the premise isn’t interesting, we know from episode one these are unlikeable developers with few redeeming qualities and I dunno about the idea to make Nathan’s character intentionally unfunny in a comedy show. So much sitting around looking at phones & mentioning TikTok videos doesn’t make it cutting edge.

Emma Stone is great but not enough to save the show. The director guy was the only one who was consistently funny in the four eps I watched.

I’ve seen four episodes of The Curse so far and I can’t shake the feeling that in some other show Nathan will explain something like:

“…. So in order to do this, we had to create a plausible prestige TV show”

Because that’s what it feels like, a fake attempt at a serious modern TV show.

Don’t Look Now, I got it on a Criterion sale because it came highly recommended as this amazing horror masterpiece and it’s just boring nonsense about restoring a church, then the world’s most off putting and weird sex scene I’ve ever seen in a movie, and I’ve seen a lot of weird sex scenes, it’s more disturbing than the one in Galaxy of Terror. And then a witch orgasms channeling the ghost of a little girl or something and then I fell asleep and never finished it.

A Nightmare Before Christmas sucks. I'm sorry, but I just have to say it.

It has some good songs, but the movie itself is bad. I even thought this when I first saw it as a kid.

It's weird how that movie was briefly popular when it first came out, then disappeared for like a decade, then became popular with Hot Topic tweens, and now it's wildly popular and I see it everywhere during both Halloween and Christmas.

I've come to hate Tim Burton's stuff in general. Long ago, his style was bold and refreshing, a clear break from traditional Hollywood stuff. And then it felt like he kept doing the same thing over and over and over, with the same people. Johnny Depp! Helena Bonham Carter! So dark and whimsical! Over and over and over.
