I remember having a random friend in high school (early to mid 00s) who was a huge Bama fan despite living literally in the shadow of the University of Michigan, and thinking at the time how weird it was. Then again I didn't have much of a concept of non-Big Ten college football until I got older.pillsburysoldier posted:A little, yeah. DeBoer is insanely competitive and genuinely expects to win every single game, I'm bummed but it does fit. I'm very curious to learn about his staff, that's where his biggest loyalty has been to.

It’s more like at Bama he’ll at best be remembered as the third best coach in the history of the program, whereas at UW he could have been the best of all time and the father of the program above Don James. That obviously isn’t who he as a person, is so I’m excited to root for him to fail now! Like I understand the move on a professional level but on a fan / rooting level I hope nothing but horrible things happen to him now, and let’s go Dawgs of the South I hope Uga bites his crotch opening day of the SEC season.

Lasagna Pilot posted:Is there no footbaw-respecting tech bro who can shower Washington football with money and make them a top 15 recruiting and staff budget team ? I don’t think Washington’s problem is really money, its location and a relatively low profile due to be sequestered in the PNW. They’re in pretty poor recruiting territory and location does still matter even in the age of NIL. The west coast isn’t especially populous relative to the eastern half of the US so they just haven’t had a whole lot of visibility, though maybe the big 10 move improves that. And as someone who moved from the south to the PNW college football just isn’t as big a deal out here. That’s not a knock, if anything it’s a good thing by most standards, but it does mean that you don’t get the “win at any cost” types of boosters and institutional support you do at the traditional powerhouses.
