I remember having a random friend in high school (early to mid 00s) who was a huge Bama fan despite living literally in the shadow of the University of Michigan, and thinking at the time how weird it was. Then again I didn't have much of a concept of non-Big Ten college football until I got older.

What tier 1 CFB program doesn't have a fanbase full of maniacal weirdos?

Bullshit, that's last year's Fall collection!

DeBoer is insanely competitive and genuinely expects to win every single game, I'm bummed but it does fit.

I'm very curious to learn about his staff, that's where his biggest loyalty has been to.

Even if you think that deboer is a better coach it’s basically inconceivable he has a Saban tier run. I think bama would continue to be good with him and he would still likely be a disappointment even so.

If it’s true I feel bad for dawgs fans because I had that same dread regarding Lanning. Losing a Real Deal dude sucks. On the other hand I don’t feel bad for dawgs fans because schadenfreude is true joy.

I would agree with the new NIL environment and Georgia and Texas being competent he could be 110% of Saban and not achieve 50% of the Saban results as far as titles per year.

It’s more like at Bama he’ll at best be remembered as the third best coach in the history of the program, whereas at UW he could have been the best of all time and the father of the program above Don James.

That obviously isn’t who he as a person, is so I’m excited to root for him to fail now! Like I understand the move on a professional level but on a fan / rooting level I hope nothing but horrible things happen to him now, and let’s go Dawgs of the South I hope Uga bites his crotch opening day of the SEC season.

If it hasn't happened by now, it's never going to happen. Whatever money exists up here is not being funneled the way it is at Bama, Michigan, Oregon et al.

Tech bros are loving nerds.

We don’t have nearly as many roofing company and tire dealership empires full of failed athletes shoveling all of their loose change into the football coffers.

I don’t think Washington’s problem is really money, its location and a relatively low profile due to be sequestered in the PNW. They’re in pretty poor recruiting territory and location does still matter even in the age of NIL.

The west coast isn’t especially populous relative to the eastern half of the US so they just haven’t had a whole lot of visibility, though maybe the big 10 move improves that.

And as someone who moved from the south to the PNW college football just isn’t as big a deal out here. That’s not a knock, if anything it’s a good thing by most standards, but it does mean that you don’t get the “win at any cost” types of boosters and institutional support you do at the traditional powerhouses.

For everyone else: Jake Thaw is the walk-on that dropped that punt at the end of Rose Bowl regulation, after being the rock-solid "catch the loving punt" guy all year. He's already announced he's hitting the transfer portal. So you know this is Harbaugh's deal.
