One of my favorite episodes (top 10 in the series IMO) is on Comet right now, "Window of Opportunity", or the SG1 Groundhog Day episode.

Funny, serious, cool sci-fi, it's got everything that makes SG1 great.

I remember watching that episode like 20 years ago recovering from surgery and hopped up on painkillers and it being quite a trip. It and the black hole episode are the two episodes that almost always spring to mind when remembering SG1 generally.

Like don't get me wrong, some episodes are stinkers, and it's campy and schlocky as hell, but as dumb and weird as it is it also feels weirdly grounded. And seeing how everyone grows in knowledge and procedures and stuff is so nice to see.

It's funny that the black hole episode has extreme low-key lore dumps on Jack. Also giving Don Davis a headache is a good time.

If I had to pick an episode, 1969 is high on the list.

yea i think its arguable that when it comes to any semblance of national pride or ambition, most of the people that are shown to care about USA or politics or the military industrial complex are almost always the bad guy or at best getting in the way of SG1/SGC

If any of you have not watched "Killjoys" and can find it somewhere you should give it a go. It's a lot of dumb fun with a solid full series plot line.

I've watched the first 2 episodes and wasn't overly impressed. But I own the DVD's and am going through the whole series (while I workout on the elliptical) and when I get to Universe, I know I'll watch it all.

I only watched Universe as it aired, but I remember starting to like it and really getting excited by the cliff hanger. It basically spends the first season doing not much then shows teeth in the 2nd half of season 2. You should skip any sex scene and do NOT think about how consent works with magic body swap stones that work across universes.

Anyone recall if there was ever any follow up or mention of the aliens from the episode "Scorched Earth"? (season 4). This was the episode where a big spaceship is terraforming a planet that SG1 had recently moved a group of human refugees.

The alien ship created an avatar that Daniel worked with to get them to help. But the actual aliens (we see them in a file) look like dinosaur/lizard aliens.

Seems they could have been good friends/worthy allies.

Indeed. But I didn't think they were gonna evolve themselves back up from scratch, but rather like the Asgard, they'd implant personalities into cloned or otherwise created bodies. They were quite advanced (but still got their asses kicked by some unnamed foe).

Not much to add, but SG1 was a formative part of growing up. I never had cable so always had to watch it late night around 12-2AM when it ran out of order on the local Fox affiliate. It was followed up with The Outer Limits reboot which I absolutely loved.

In college, I finally got the full DVD set and watched it all the way through, loved every second of it. There's something I love about Stargate that really clicked with me – maybe it was a pragmatism mixed with an optimistic worldview, maybe it was the stellar cast I fell in love in with, maybe it was my siblings I bonded with watching the show. Glad there's an SG1 thread, waiting and hoping (indefinitely?) for an eventual HD release.

Rush gets beaten up in various ways he deserves then keeps doing the same poo poo anyway, so there's catharsis but the annoyance remains.

Lou Diamond Phillips gets an actual character arc. So does Shooter McGavin but it's pretty early.

ide love to be third shift gate dialler but im no siler. probably the airmen who got eaten by bugs escorting bitchy politicians to saftery in the gamma site. i just watched that episode though

also a few episodes ago baal and his 5 clones got blown up on their mother ship by the lucian alliance but it being baal and them not showing his corpse i suspect both him and nerus are alive. didnt vala say she was in the alliance before she got stuck in the ori galaxy? why didnt they use that info when trying to infiltrate it on space corn the planet. just be like oh yeah valla sent us were working for her. earth needs addictive space corn to make space hfcs out of.

im pretty sure in the episode that introduced her or the one she slapped the bracelets onto daniel she talked about it

also the lucian alliance seems kind of interesting they seem to be mostly humans and have a bunch of gouald ships / tech and are some kind of space mob

they also seem to have pivoted away from jaffa politics which is a shame
