Whenever I see something new in Rimworld I always push the info button and read the flavor text because my brain worms give the good chemicals when I do. I pity people who don't have such worm colonies. It must be caused by a childhood filled with social activity and playing outside.

Sniper-only raids are actually just a rare vanilla raid flavor! They’re not usually that dangerous since sniper rifles have bad DPS and the AI is usually not very good at positioning to take advantage of their range to make up for it.

I hate sniper rifles though. The DPS might be bad but every landed shot will cripple a pawn and take them out of the fight.

Smoke can help too, any bullet that passes through smoke gets the penalty so having your melee people fighting in smoke can substantially help them not get shot

Like so many things, sniper raids can be defeated by the furtive mortar. With just 4 simple household goods: a pawn, a wall, a mortar, and an infinite supply of mortar shells, you too can eviscerate your enemies from a cozy spot in the center of your base

Just making enemies walk around a corner to see you is often all it takes to wreck a sniper raid. All your guns will fire first since snipers have such long windups, and you can kill enemies faster than they can arrive if you’ve got high-DPS stuff like chain shotguns. Even if they do get a few shots off sniper rifles have terrible accuracy at close range.
