Parts the five races may have terraformed in parallel to developing the stargate network? Maybe the five races designed British Columbia by committee to create a ecosystem each of them could agree on? :v Now that Earth has their own warp/hyper drives they can go out in ships and find more interesting planets with more interesting lifeforms and more interesting ecosystems! Oh, and let's not forget; more interesting ways to die!

I thought Jack really sucked with the Tok'ra too. Total disrespect and mistrust. Jack was pretty bad with a lot of aliens, but oddly, he got the most important one super right, apparently - the Asgard, who really seemed to love him. Also, he's super cool with Teal'c when a lot of other folks would take him away and study him.

Always saw the Replicators as reused/reinvented. Reese's father invented them and that was just one instance of it happening. The Ancients reinvent/rediscover them and they're deployed against the Wraith. Jack for a man who was special forces had no patience for secrets/subterfuge and diplomacy.

I bet he can figure it out. Occurred to me that the Tau'ri scavenged most/all of their tech, like the Goa'uld. And yet use the word with derision when describing them.

All space tech Earth developed only was possible by retro engineering captured Goa'uld designs. Etc.

Is that really true? Everything on the X-302 was homegrown. Fairly terrestrial launch system and air/space maneuvering and life support, no focus on exotic weaponry. Reverse engineered / Asgard-helped hyperdrive but still an earth design, not shipped in from Planet Thor. They are shown always putting in time to research, improve, test, and create things. That's pretty rare from the baddies perspective.

My point is there's not that big a difference between how the Goa'uld got and developed tech, and how the Tau'ri did. For another example, the Goa'uld probably developed their naquadah tech on their own. Goa'uld don't normally have naquadah in their system. The Tau'ri didn't figure out hyperdrive tech. They scavenged it, reverse engineered it, then deployed it with the help of friendly aliens.

The distinction I get is that the goa'uld generally treat their stuff as black boxes without understanding the underlying mechanisms, while a human scientist like Carter can whip out the math on how hyperdrives work on a moment's notice

Humans saying the Goauld don't create technology they just steal it are just being space racists, change my mind.
