Sharper Image used to be all about those things ~20 years ago, and you can tell they didn't even update the design because it still takes 4 C cell batteries. I wouldn't be surprised if my local stores didn't even carry those things anymore.

Looking for a good neck pillow for a long plane flight. I usually end up tipping forward if I’m sitting in the middle, so something that prevents my neck from breaking if that happens would be great.

I have heard good things about the TRTL neck pillow, but it made me feel kinda claustrophobic when I tried a knockoff one. YMMV.

Yeah, the trtl "pillow" might work for you. Didn't for me because i must be a longneck mutant There's also a work travel thread which might be able to help. Road warriors prob have strong opinions about this stuff.

Not sure how good either is, but both are designed to be tied to the seat headrest and then hold your head up. https://sleeperhold.com https://cabeau.com/products/the-necks-evolution-s3-tne-neck-pillow

Is there still a goon on SA who will help out with resumes? Or did that whole controversy with the original guy selling the account kill that service?

I'm going to be getting a new cell phone soon and I don't think any newer models have audio jacks anymore? The way I listen to music/podcasts while driving is plugging my phone into my cars audio jack. My car has bluetooth but only for calls. Can anyone recommend a good bluetooth receiver that I can plug into an audio jack? I bought one from a brand called Scosche but there is a noticable crackle when the music is loud that is not present when my phone is plugged in directly. Thanks!

Not exactly what you're asking for but if your car has a lighter type outlet that you aren't using I've got one of these and it's been great. The device connects to your phone via bluetooth and then transmits at whatever radio frequency you set. Tune your car radio to that frequency to listen. Same end result as an audio cable but without actually needing a cable. Worst case scenario you drive into an area where the set frequency is used by an actual station and then you have to pick a different frequency for the device (which is incredibly easy)

I tried a few different FM and Bluetooth audio adapters before my old head unit crapped out and needed a replacement anyway (I made sure the new one had BT) and they all had various little annoyances. Go the direct route. You can even buy a USB-C i/o splitter to plug in a charge cable at the same time. I use one of those on car and airplane trips because I don't like using wireless earbuds sometimes. Lemniscate Blue has a new favorite as of 20:07 on Jan 8, 2024 |

I use a podcast app on my phone on a dash mount for that but if you are concerned about distracted driving that's worth considering. (Actually the new head unit is pretty unique in that it has an app that uses your phone as the screen for everything anyway. As far as I know it's the only model ever made that does it and I like it a lot. I'm pretty sure it's been discontinued.)

I obviously have no objections against the safety angle, but my recommendation comes from a point of convenience. I really like being able to go 'next' and it doesn't take a second or half an ounce of brainpower.

Probably cross-post this, but is there a good way to get temporary internet? Our fiber is down, and there's a tech out tomorrow, but if there's an option to get things up before the weekend (even if it were just 4G or something), that would be great. South Seattle, if it matters. I checked out Verizon home internet and Google Fiber Webpass, and neither of those are available at my address.

What would be a good replacement for this ancient bulb that has been around for what feels like decades Any particularly ideal brand or specific type for indoor spotlights like this? there's four of them in the kitchen, two of them dimmable and two of them not, so replacements for them all rather than just the one would probably be in order since they're probably not very energy efficient compared to new bulbs. Probably want LED replacements, yeah?

Captain Invictus posted:What would be a good replacement for this ancient bulb that has been around for what feels like decades You should replace them with LED floods, basically all of them are dimmable at this point. If you're tired of looking at can holes in your ceiling, you can pull them out and replace them with flat or recessed LED discs like this too.

Yeah these were just kinda...there, forever, and only finally bit the dust. I grabbed a four pack of LED spotlights off Amazon and will see how they fare. Thanks!

Does anyone have (or better yet know someone personally that makes them) a good vendor for a leather bag? One of the more medieval deals with a drawstring. I was doing some cleaning up and found my old set of tabletop dice in the prerequisite Crown bag (Green) and thought it would be nice to toss them into something a hair less "a Crown Royal bag" before putting them away and forgetting about them. eBay and Etsy are lousy with drop shippers, and I'm sure the quality is fine, but I figured I'd ask. Surprisingly few leather goods people on SA Mart it turns out.

A And if nobody else has experience making these pouches, I might give it a shot. If it does come to that, keep in mind I've made plenty of leather things before, just not that particular leather thing

I bought some boner pills from the convenience store down the block and they did amazing things for me. But I don't want to keep buying boner pills from them because... I don't want them to know I'm buying boner pills. And I can't remember what I bought. It had a rhinoceros on the front though.

Gas station boner pills often just contain viagra but it's a roulette wheel of how much. There's a ton of sites that will prescribe boner pills with a ten minute telehealth screening or you could buy them OTC in Mexico.
