Has Kate been seen in the wild in recent weeks? Is there any proof that she's still alive?

She's been in (may be out now) hospital having "abdominal surgery". No clues as to what sort of "abdominal surgery" that might be: tummy tuck? appendectomy? Not sure what else goes on around there!

Adding to the funeral convo, my dad died two years ago on Jan 25th (diagnosed Jan 4th, gently caress cancer) and we had his funeral on Feb 22nd, from what my mum said they couldn't do a sooner date but we would really have preferred any other time since it was the day after their wedding anniversary and the day before his birthday

Can unfortunately be the way in some cases. Poor motherfuckers go in because they fainted, and it turns out it's their body starting to shut down.

If Chuck really did throw his lot in with homeopathy it's possible, if his check ups have been with a quack prescribing him water, that they've managed to miss it until it's at a late enough stage.

Christ, if I was that rich I'd be having monthly full body scans whether I needed them or not.

If you were that rich you probably wouldn't be used to being corrected by reality and thus more able to believe that your repertoire of waters is going to be better for you than actual doctors.

Grim. Is there something though, in the long run, to getting all those sad anniversaries done in one weekend of :smith: , and then using other points through the year to have fond memories?

A Conservative MP has told her constituents to stop flushing their toilets, taking baths and using their washing machines during “heavy downpours” to prevent sewage spills.

According to a leaflet Flick Drummond sent to her Meon Valley constituents, which i has seen, people “need to be more sensible” with their water use during storms “to help with the capacity in our sewers”.

“It would help if people did not discharge wastewater – such as baths, flushing loos, even using machines in heavy downpours – this all contributes to the amount of water going down the sewers,” it said.

She created her leaflet using gas lights

Funeral chat - aren't Muslim funerals supposed to be done pretty quickly? Is there a way to get a non-Muslim buried by them?

We should have Towers of Silence.

I did attend half a catholic funeral and the amount of "oh god we love you so much and we know you always make the right choices by killing this 30 year old woman with a young daughter" was very offputting.

Like half the function of the funeral is to try and convince people not to question their commitment to the church because something tremendously hosed up has happened.

Sounds like the priest was huffing his own farts big time, that's not the norm.

I believe the Islamic tradition is that the sun cannot go down on an unburied body. I think you get a 24-hour grace period if granny pops her clogs one minute before sunset.

Yeah you have to be Muslim and then some of the gammons and kooks claim that the reason that the funeral delays are so long is because all the Muslims get express treatment.

Yup, that's it chap, all the Muslims queuing for the crematorium ahead of you, mmhm.

Truss’s PopCon group splinters on launch but attacks Sunak’s policies

quote:

It was an event intended to mark the reinvigoration of rightwing conservatism. But even before the first speaker took to the stage on Tuesday morning, the Popular Conservatism group had splintered.

Of the four MPs billed to speak, just two were present – Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg. The former cabinet minister Ranil Jayawardena, regarded by some as a rising star of the Tory right, pulled out on Monday with a swipe at his fellow panellists. And Simon Clarke, another Trussite former cabinet minister, was removed from the line-up by the organisers two weeks ago after calling for Rishi Sunak to be ousted.

“This isn’t about the leadership of Rishi Sunak,” the director Mark Littlewood, who until recently led the Institute of Economic Affairs, told the room. “I’m personally immovable in my view that Rishi Sunak should lead the Conservatives into the next general election.”

But although none of the speakers openly questioned Sunak’s leadership, much of the rest of the event amounted to an evisceration of his policies.

The former Conservative party vice-chair Lee Anderson attacked the government over its approach to net zero. He called for coal mines to be reopened in the north of England and for people to be able to choose whether to pay green levies on their energy bills.

“We’re burning coal in our power stations but it’s foreign coal,” he said. “How is that contributing to net zero? It’s an absolute nonsense.” He also said his constituents weren’t “lying awake at night worrying about net zero”.

It was also a rather offputting element of my one other interaction with catholicism also. Like they do seem like they want to console you but they make sure to point out that god isn't wrong just because the horrible thing happened.

Maybe it just grates on me more, I suppose it's presumably a requirement if the faith is important to your life and just saying "gently caress you god" isn't an option.

Atheist since was 16 so i won't toot the horn for the buggers, just never run into that spin before. lol

Just reminded me, when I lived in Walthamstow, every other food shop had حلال (halal) in the windows.
When I moved to Cairo I'm like "Why don't any of the food shops show حلال in the windows?"

Then when I thought about it more, obviously just about everything edible except in the specialist pork shops is حلال
