Oddly enough, when the Tea Party "Movement" was a thing, most of the mainstream outlets help legitimize it by refusing to give airtime to the nutters attending it. It was mostly independent and foreign outlets like Al Jazeera that were like "hey, look at the crazies!" The same mistake doesn't appear to have been repeated with Trump rallies. It's funny when people bitch about people speaking Spanish and pretend that's their issue. However if you actually look at who they're pissed at, it's always someone who looks like they might be from South of the Rio Grande. They never get pissed and yell at white people speaking Spanish. I know a guy whose mom is from Spain, and I've seen people get their "SPEAK ENGLISH" hackles up and turn to start something when he's talking to his family in public. Then they see it's an older blonde lady, her blonde son, and his kid and the rage visibly drains from their face. Like the only time I have ever seen anyone get pissed about people speaking non-English European languages is if they know the people and they have "private conversations" at a gathering. Which is still dumb as gently caress, but at least within sight of the lands of reason. Edit: I know Spain is in Europe, but people who get pissed about people not speaking English are convinced it's in the darkest part of Mexico. So, my curated feed is all full of mainstream newspapers saying "Trump said he'd sell NATO to Putin if they didn't pay up". Which he has said before, and threatened to do before. None of the various right-wing crank websites I also follow have mentioned it. Interesting that the usual bloodgargling psychos appear to be trying to ignore this to death, rather than praise it. Am I looking the wrong places? too early to have focus-group tested responses? Actually a radioactive thing to say according to polling?

My brother showed me a clip from the Ted TV show (the Seth McFarlane TV show based on the movie.) The opening scene is a pretty long (and funny) section where the Dad explains how he can't be racist as Rocky is his favourite movie. (Despite it being about a black guy beating an Italian at boxing.) And an extended bit about how Italians are white, since they were let into the club after they kicked the Cubans out. So I guess it is indeed a thing.
