Speaking of Tatsuya Ishida... wait a minute. You did that on purpose! Starting out the week with some casual blood libel. Don't worry, while it doesn't get worse from here, it's definitely going to get a lot more deranged. OK, this is back to something which is more like a standard political cartoon, but I promise it's just this one strip. Just as a reminder as we go through this bullshit, God in Sinfest has, up until this point, been depicted this way: You will note a significant lack of resemblance to Théoden of the House of Eorl, son of Thengel, Seventeenth King of Rohan. Why are we having a Congressional hearing with this person who lives in Heaven? Shut up, continuity is for cucks. As for the content of the strip itself: there is not a gently caress you big enough. Yep, we're just doing straight-up Replacement Theory... in Heaven. That's what we're doing now. (In this analogy, the United States is Heaven.) Immigrants are just here to do drugs and look at porn. Unlike the people who already live here, who... uh, moving on. The Aryan Superman Angel tries to stop the madness, but alas! His message of hatred and racial intolerance is ignored. What will happen next? Who can say!? I mean, literally, absolutely nobody could possibly predict what's going to happen in the next strip, including Ishida himself. He might just go right back to the antisemitism, or maybe we'll get another couple of weeks of Literally Just Grima Wormtongue, or a spicy combo like that congressional hearing strip. Pettyfest

I couldn't believe this so I looked it up. It's real. Some Florida Republicans pushed a bill that could have given $5 million to Trump for legal fees. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/01/22/florida-trump-legal-bills-00136984 "The legislation has already won the endorsement from Jimmy Patronis, the state’s Republican chief financial officer, who for months has been publicly calling for taxpayers to pay to defend Trump from criminal charges." DeSantis said he would veto the bill, and it has been withdrawn. It might never have gotten far anyway, because "There was no House companion to the bill, and it was not something that Republican legislative leaders have been promoting during the start of this year’s session." The alleged logic behind the bill was: “If we can help and support a Florida candidate for the White House, that’s just good from a dollars and cents perspective,” Patronis said. “From all the decisions the federal government makes with regard to military installations, to roads, to disaster aid — it’s in Florida’s best interest to make sure their champion for the President is allowed a fair shot at the White House[...]"

I mean, I would never accuse Tatsuya of not thinking his metaphor through, but it is very interesting to me that he is portraying God as fallible and vulnerable to outside influence, which is not very consistent with a Christian worldview.

Would explain the random events plots.

It's not just his position, sadly. I've been hearing variations on that theme for, like...I think the first time was in the mid-aughts, maybe? Like, I can logically see why some Jewish (almost always Zionist) people would say this, but it's such an incredibly shortsighted and heartless take that...eh. Let's just say that I wasn't surprised to see Kirschen saying it.
