Oh please, carter would obviously be friends with the rabbits. Now Bush, he's someone who'd have to worry about getting finished off by killer rabbits.

There isn't much to discuss anymore. The big questions of our time ("does a crossed-out swastika symbolise opposition to the ideas the swastika respresents" and "are games art") have been answered. e: I had totally forgotten Claudia Roth daring the cops to come after her though.

That's kind of where the free market uber alles people lose the plot. "Oh you'll be able to shop around and pick and choose your healthcare provider", bud that's the last thing I want to do. That's a lot of tedious work and I'm not even really qualified to evaluate my own healthcare needs, and certainly not qualified to judge which private security company plan to go with to avoid the now ubiquitous arson gangs.

Walter is a Mexican cartel head’s nephew. He asks his uncle to make an example out of Marie to show others what happens to those who dare stand in his way. Marie is beheaded and her body hung from an overpass

You, an ADT employee, are standing at the lever near a trolley line. Walter is barreling down the line toward Marie, who is tied to the tracks on one side. If you pull the lever, Marie will be saved, but two days of company revenue will be sacrificed instead to paying her. Walter has no trolley license, works for your Ring competitor, but is the nephew of the ADT boss.

This may sound harsh, but as Walter's Ring councel my advice is to upgrade the robbery to a murder as soon as possible. Removing the ADT claimant removes the claim and saves everyone a lot of time and money and we all get to go home to our hotplates early.

and if you're unsatisfied with the service you get, you're always free to start your own mercenary company. if you get through the period of your larger rivals attempting to literally crush the competition you are free to take a more consumer friendly stance on open warfare to enforce claims

Nebrilos posted:What incentive does Ring have to obey the arbitrator's ruling? Theoretically, if the largest group makes a play for power, as long as they are not already the majority group by themselves, the other groups could unite against them. Though while this is in the obvious long term best interest of all the other groups, it would not be in the short term interest of any of them so it's still a pretty plausible end to an an-cap utopia. Nukes would also be a rational solution. That checks out. (This is not to seriously defend any of this an-cap nonsense, but it's fun to think through what they think would happen.)

Let's hear this guy out. It doesn't sound like a terrible system, and once you have a reasonable monopoly on violence in an area, you could maybe get into some things that go nicely with that sort of power. Maybe some gambling, distribution of controlled substances... and, hell, if you already have the protection, might as well do some light pimping on the side. Oh Christ, he's invented "the mafia."
