It's a tough pill to swallow, especially when our political system seems to be moonwalking backwards to appease that Putin, who's about as charming as a hemorrhoid. On a brighter note, Biden's speech today was as sharp as a tack, though I highly doubt these political vampires will react unless there's a garlic clove involved. It isn’t infinite but they haven’t pulled out the full stops. Their attempt to keep the lines of supply open are clearly much weaker than Bakhmut and it doesn’t seem there is any real attempt at any counter-offensive.

That said even if they have a marginally held static line, the Russians probably don’t want to conduct a massive attack like the first invasion. It just is inefficient compared to baiting the Ukrainians into constant traps until the army or public at large breaks.

In that sense it isn’t over. The Ukrainians can’t win but they doesn’t mean they can’t drag it out.

I'm just building off of your Verdin analogy, theres only so many of these none shall pass fights Ukraine can pull off before it becomes too much. Remember Verdun was the muddy grave of the French field army and it was only because of American units that stopped the French from having their own October Revolution becausenthe army was just breaking down

Ukrainian-Russian war. Day 723:
Situation on Avdivka front: Russian Army continue advancing along the Industrial Avenue and the private sector and took control over parts of Avdiivka Plant of Metal Structures, the first parts of the Train Station, the Church of Saint Nicholas, the clinic and the Railwaymen's Park, in which Russian troops raised the flag in the monument of the center. In addition, troops took control over parts of the dachas adjacent to Avdivka Coke Plant, where Ukrainian troops, mostly from AZOV groups, hid in the tunnels underneath the factory.
Moreover, Russian forces began combing operations in the northeastern dachas and the forest area as Ukrainian Army continue the withdrawal from the city towards Khimik settlement, the only way out of the city, which is already under fire control.

lol

Wonder how long they'll hold out this time compared to Mariupol.

the official NATO claim is Russia has used up all tanks it had before the conflict

which means either Russia has no tanks and Ukraine still can't push forward or Russia is producing so many new tanks it doesn't matter. I mean I know the real answer is the destroyed tank numbers are horrendously inflated but it's interesting how the initial premise is still bad for Ukraine.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Lazerpig. The content is extremely nuanced, and without a solid grasp of military operations, most of the references will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Lazerpig's strategic outlook, which is skillfully woven into his commentary—his personal analysis draws heavily from Clausewitzian doctrine, for example. The true fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just informative—they say something deep about WARFARE. As a consequence, people who dislike Lazerpig truly ARE missing out—of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in Lazerpig's oft-quoted maxim "Control the high ground," which itself is a cryptic reference to the age-old military principle of securing advantageous terrain. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those confounded simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lazerpig's genius unfolds itself on their screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, I DO have a Lazerpig tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the connoisseurs' eyes only— and even then, they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

They list the Akhmat unit as a blocking unit at the beginning. They had to find a way to enable a "human wave" narrative of course.

EDIT : Air assault units also described as having "blocking retreat" as their mission around Robotyne.
