I'm really excited to see this movie. It seems like it might finally cure me of the desire to watch superhero trash (ok I am still going to watch Spider-Verse 3 but they are broadly actually good movies).

I think if they land the third one in a half-decent place, of comparable quality at least to 2, they have the makings of a classic trilogy. They should then stop there and not milk them! (They will not do this.)

Me and my dad quite liked the Eternals but he liked it because it was slow and not too frantic and had interesting imagery, and I liked it because finding movies he enjoys is harder these days. I would not watch it again, yes.

Like non-nerds actors really understand, or care about, the difference between Sony Spider-Man and Marvel Spider-Man. I loving guarantee you they understand the difference between “you will have cameo roles in Disney blockbusters for years to come off the back of this” and “you are in the modern day Elektra(2005)”

It’s not sexist when it’s something that actually happened. Both Johnson and Sweeny tagged marvel studios excitedly sharing the announcement of being in it. Could’ve been a mistake of the tagging but still. It’s not something invented from the ether

To assume that they couldn’t tell the difference between this and the MCU - especially Sweeney, who pushed for a more comics-accurate costume for Julia Carpenter - is to believe they are completely aloof of the biggest trend in the movie industry in a way that, like, Jared Leto wouldn’t be.
