Hello Sailor posted:Doesn't "bullish" generally mean you should buy a stock/commodity/etc? How are they buying more BBBY? They figured out that they can still buy corporate bonds for BBBY, and have been calling them "Teddy stock" for a while based on a prophesied equity swap in the future. You cannot, under any circumstances, keep an ape from parting with their money.

This is the part that's always confused me and made me realize this is all just a cult. Let's assume they were right. Let's assume that somehow they ended up owning stock that became worth more than the entire loving global economy, and that because they knew the real life Konami Code and the admiralty flag fringes were the right color that the powers that be just couldn't hand-wave this away. Ignore all the other times when something got unwound because it would cause major problems. This time is different, there's no loving way that the hedge funds, wall street ,and even the government itself can get out of paying them infinity dollars for their two shares of defunct strip mall retailer stock. . . . why do they think they will become masters of the universe, rather than the people with actual power just ordering a hit out on them? If poo poo actually went down how they claim it will I wouldn't expect 420SeraphGokuBonerLord and HODLmaster6969 to become the owners of the economy, I'd expect the CIA, the SEALs, the Green Berets, and probably the loving Mossad, FSB, and Chinese Intelligence Services to boot to join hands to kick down their doors and shoot them a bunch. These are entities that literally put hellfire missiles through the windows of people they don't like enough. And you think that you're going to internet lawyer them into just having to give you all the money in the world?

If it even came to that. But before it got to that part, the powers that be would just change the law. They'd amend the constitution if it came down to it. Both apes and sovern cit types have this strange belief that law is ironclad and inelastic. They truly don't understand that it's fluid, easily changeable, and most importantly drivin by politics. They actually think the most powerful people in the world will simply stand by and say "Wow you got us. I guess it's your turn to rule the world now."

The hedgies have such overarching control of the financial system that they can apply mystery algorithms to short attack healthy companies into bankruptcy on a whim. The hedgies are powerless to stop the apes from pulling a kroot conga line and cashing out the entire world economy for some stock in already dead companies.

AMC isn't a completely failing business; they're doing OK financially. Their mgmt team and the board are masterfully playing the apes by printing millions of new shares into the ape buying frenzy. They literally printed new special shares called APE shares so they can cash in on people who declared they will buy the stock no matter what, without a care for any of the underlying financials. So basically apes have been throwing millions into a share printing machine, which ensured that the price of the stock doesn't actually go up while AMC just gets free money.

I'm pretty sure they aren't doing ok financially though. They are losing money and have billions of dollars of debt starting to come due in 2026. Like that's the whole reason the stock is tanking and they are looking to be on the trajectory of bankruptcy.

I thought Apes actually did successfully save AMC by buying new issued shares for more than the outstanding debt. Did AMC take on more? After voting to allow for more shares to be issued because this is good for the stock!

Just on the surface level AMC's finical statement doesn't seem that terrible TBH. They lost money, but the losses seem to of been going down a bunch last two year. Revenue is up as well, and seems to be going up faster then expenses. Of course the last two years were still coming off coming back from covid so hard to know if revenue will continue to rise like the previous two years, but it seems more just generally bad rather than dire. I mean not a company that you would particular want to invest in or something, but one that can probably hang on for a bit longer if nothing else goes terrible wrong. dr_rat fucked around with this message at 05:29 on Mar 1, 2024 |

My understanding is the real issue with AMC is that they have billions of dollars in debt that is looming just over the horizon. It's wild reading a bunch of people on the internet who have no experience or prior knowledge about bankruptcy's opine about how "but the whole deal has been SO confusing" means they are about to become rich. Yeah I have no knowledge or experience of corporate bankruptcies of formerly billion dollar, publicly traded companies, but I just assumed it would usually be complicated as hell process. God I hope none of them ever do heart surgery, they'd be an hour into poking around in the patients chest before they started complaining about how there's a whole bunch of extra junk in there and why doesn't anything in the chest look like the cartoon heart shape thing I'm supposed to be looking for to fix.

I think it's kinda bizarre that given GME's cashflow they're not investing in actually making products and games via funding publishing/development. There's small publishing companies out there that are focusing on physical goods that has been picking up lately because surprise surprise, some people actually enjoy physical media, and even zoomers are missing it despite never living through the golden years (apparently old iPods, Walkmen, and CD Players are coming back in popularity). Instead they choose to invest in memes and NFTs and all this bizarre poo poo. Like how ignorant do you have to be to not realize that the whole point of GameStop is to sell I would think the guy who focuses on competing with Amazon by targeting specific markets with his Pet-Specific Amazon would understand the importance of it. Considering the video games industry generates more revenue than TV, Movies, etc combined.
