Solidarity is something you do, not say, and on soil fertilized with solidarity mutual respect can blossom. I am aware that this is easy for me to say, not being a member of an oppressed minority, but I really don't see a workable alternative here. I pretty much agree with this, particularly the focus on what to actually do. In the case of Galloway, for example, I’m giving him critical support but I’m not going to rave about him or pretend he’s this brilliant person because he’s an anti-imperialist. We should expect more, and not fawn over every person who expressed pro-Palestine sentiments - critical support is the key. on Galloway specifically, I think he’ll be great at disrupting the kayfabe in the HoC but long term I do worry that he’s going be dog poo poo for his constituents (he will be, he has a record of being an awful MP for his actual constituents), and more than likely will say some pretty cranky weird stuff. and not just weird, I mean Jews did 9/11 and trans women don’t exist sort of stuff, and having the loudest voice for Palestine in the UK saying insane poo poo may not help the cause in the long term. Overall, at the moment, I’m glad he was elected and will be defending him.
