I'd say they should make Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai an SNP MP but honestly that'd be pretty good, except if it got in the way of new Mogwai, in which case it'd be bad.

I am going to make a bold prediction. The Tories will win more than 3 seats at the 2024 general election.

The confusion about the Oct 7 attacks is interesting, the amount of misinformation, deliberate propaganda, and bias from both sides is unlike anything I've read about.

There is so much documentation from the day, but from what i can tell, without being an invesigative journalist. That hard evidence is not readily available. Isreal claim that Hamas deliberately used sexual violence. That's the part of the actions that i can't sympathise with.

Will be interesting over the next few years to see the real story behind this

Almost. It's the former "banjoist and lead guitarist of the folk rock band Mumford & Sons. Prior to this he was in the bluegrass sleaze rap group Captain Kick and the Cowboy Ramblers" (sorry, that sentence was too stupid not to throw in) who is the son of the guy funding GB News & UnHerd, as well as the guy trying to buy both The Spectator & Daily Telegraph, Winston Aubrey Aladar deBalkan Marshall. More I read about this prick the more I hate him, & that's impressive considering he was a founding member of one of the most contemptible bands in modern music.

"While the other members of Mumford & Sons were influenced by jazz, Marshall described the genre in 2013 as "the lowest form of art"." "He was inspired to play banjo after seeing O Brother, Where Art Thou?, switching to folk music and wearing his hair in dreadlocks." "Marshall and future bandmate Marcus Mumford met as teenagers at church, playing worship music at a church group together and in a worship band". How the gently caress do you have the gall to call jazz the lowest form of art when you did the most artless shite imaginable, worship music?

I'm going to stop now before I give myself a stroke.

I can't sympathise with any part of the murdering kids myself. Whether or not they were raped as well isn't strictly relevant except insofar as it's being used by the Israelis as a clarion call for genocide.

Yeah, it’s not like if Hamas commits horrible war crimes the Palestinians lose their human rights and suddenly Israel’s human rights abuses and war crimes are justified.

Palestine should be free and neither side should be indiscriminately killing civilians.

The only redeeming feature of worship music is that the IWW stole all their songs.

Anyone who thinks that Duke Ellington and John Coltrane have no artistic talent can just gently caress off, and that's not even getting into the infinite varieties of more obscure jazz genres.

Theresa May quitting before she's thrown out is enraging. Partly because the only joy this election is going to give me is seeing all the old villains getting humiliated and replaced by younger, unknown villains, but mostly because I have to see people pretend she was hard done by or not a complete piece of poo poo. She was a racist by even the standards of the tory party. She refused to do anything about rape at Yarl's Wood camp because it might negatively affect Serco's profits. Windrush immigrants were deported with dementia to countries they had never been in. She sent out vans that literally told immigrants to "GO HOME". Absolute scumbag.

Yeah I think on some of those tapes they had no problem with the dynamics of three bodies.

I blame Robert Westall's book The Machine Gunners for having a bit where the one of the lads finds some German radio valves and uses them to Morse Code obscene messages at the Nazis for planting the idea in our heads.

That and the era before the WWW being full of people flooding half of the radio spectrum with illegal raves, offers of drug deals, conspiracy theories, anti John Major rants, porno soundtracks, and everything else after the Territorial Sea Act pushed all the radio ships further away.

There were a couple of kids in the village I grew up in, probably 28 years ago, they stole one of their parents work van & took it for a joyride. When they were I think 8? No more than 9 anyway, one of them was on the floor controlling the pedals & the other was steering, because they couldn't reach the pedals while sat in the seat. Always really admired that.

I'm trying to think of a musical instrument that didn't get invented outside of western europe and I'm struggling. I think it would have to be some sort of modern electronic thing because I feel like the rest of the world already invented all the ways to get noise out of bits of tree and animals and rocks.

I guess you could go with independent invention but I can't think of anything unique.
