It's a first-person adventure game where you're using time powers to investigate crime scenes in a world that looks to be inspired by the likes of Blade Runner and Altered Carbon.

A neo-noir detective adventure is totally my jam. The synopsis talks about finding a serial killer that is targeting the wealthy. I wonder if the story is really just a hunt for the killer or if there is the obvious twist mid-game that the wealthy elite were the baddies the whole time.

I'm playing Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries again and Piranha should really just remake it instead of doing whatever procgen generic repeatables that MW5 apparently uses. Haven't actually played that one yet, tbh. I'm also replaying Freelancer with the Crossfire mod and...I probably shouldn't have? It's making me remember that I didn't exactly love Freelancer even the first time around for the simple reason that its actual dogfighting is kinda rote and unsatisfying, and nowhere close to the level of Freespace's. Also: when it comes to sandboxy space games, I prefer them to actually have proper side questlines instead of just the same old bounties and cargo missions over and over. Think: Escape Velocity. Still, Freelancer's story stuff and voice performances are fun with a pretty stacked cast, and I remember the final Dyson Sphere level being impressive at the time.

I played Crossfire years ago and it was hilariously unbalanced for solo play. Everything had ridiculously strong shields which made the combat drag out and some areas were clearly designed for a group of players, just endless swarms of enemy fighters. Might be better now, I hear it's gotten a lot of updates. The servers were pretty active though, which was cool.

E:The original campaign was fine, I think it was all the new areas that were overtuned

A light dungeon crawler classic from the flash era. You can keep certain items between runs so I won't call it a roguelike.

I bought the regular version and it looks like you get Title/Banner/Skin/Weapon crates for free when you hit certain achievement milestones. Those are obviously finite but at least there's some baked-in potential customization.

I don't think it has anything to do with intelligence - the human brain seems to be easily exploited by systems like these (unless you're lucky enough to be more resilient to them) and the companies not only know it, they bet on it. That's why the whole microtransaction model even works to begin with!

While I feel for that guy, that video is a bit disengenous as comparing WoW’s horse at the peak of WoW to a niche genre like RTS isn’t a fair comparison. I’m sure there are gacha games that have made more money on far worse things than a ton of games. I like StarCraft 2 as well.

WHY DID WE MAKE ANOMALY?
Ludeon Studio's founder Tynan on why he decided to make Anomaly
:

“I wanted to give players new kinds of emotions they haven’t encountered before in RimWorld. We’ve explored feelings around dramatic combat tension, family warmth, problem-solving and many more. Now I wanted to provoke new emotions - dread, psychological tension, suspicion and mystery. The horror theme unlocks a new emotional landscape for us to explore.

There aren’t many games which mix management and horror either, so it was an interesting design challenge to marry these two elements.

Plus I saw Cabin in the Woods
and I thought the monster lab was awesome.

It was important to me that this not just be a collection of monsters to shoot at, because the base game already generates those feelings of combat tension and I wanted something new. So we made sure to design the new threats to follow the arc of classic horror stories: The protagonists encounter a mystery, then realize it’s a threat, and try to survive while they learn more about it, slowly building advantage before they try to turn the tables. It’s a very RimWorld kind of chaos when several of these things are happening at once with different threats.

This was really fun to work on and I think the team did an awesome job - I can’t wait for everyone to play it.
Ty”

Yeah, like I love going to the casino. The thing is while sitting at that slot machine I know everything about it is engineered to trick my lizard brain. I actively sit there thinking wow it's doing these noises/sites to gently caress with me but I don't get up. I bring a limited amount of cash when I go, basically don't ever believe you are above being manipulated.

Just because Liquor's dead, doesn't mean you can just roll this bitch all over town with "The Freedoms."

Wish I could actually play the first one worth a drat. Put several hours into it but don't think I ever got farther than the initial stages of world 3, trying to quickly analyze which moves needed to be made while being pressured to keep time always led to a death spiral of fuckups around that point.

Still going to check out the OST if nothing else, first game had some great tracks.
