You would make a good Dalek.
I’d like to also point out that you can mute the voices in Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology and I would recommend playing that one that way.

I did not know that. I basically played about 30 minutes of RH:PC and went "Yeah, I'm sticking to the original". I'm really glad I posted my list now.

I removed the SD card from the 3DS, then made these folders:

roms\vb

Put the emulator's .cia file into the cias folder. Copy your games into the vb folder.

Reinsert the SD card and power on, then launch the FBI app. It has a file browser. Navigate to the emulator and install it. (You'll be asked if you want to keep the original cia file after installing it, you can just delete it.)

Back on the home screen, the gift icon will show up and you can open and launch the emulator. The UI has a file browser that you can use to navigate to the vb folder, and it will remember that location for next time.

Perfect, got it working, thank you for the help!

Can you buy replacement backplates anywhere? I tried to buy some off aliexpress but they were too small, clearly 3d printed and not the original design

I replaced the circle pad on my daughter’s 2DS XL and now I’m having a couple weird problems.

Well one isn’t weird, the volume adjust doesn’t work, I guess I just need to make sure that’s in the right position after it fell off.

The second one is that I can’t scroll the home screen to the right. I can move the circle and dpads to the right then it just bounces off the edge and won’t go any farther.

Does anyone have an idea? And what is the right position for the volume slider?

The ZL and ZR buttons scroll the home screen, so one of the ZL or ZR buttons could be stuck firing, dragging the screen to one side.

For your volume slider the big plastic thing is supposed to be set around a smaller black slider switch attached to the main board. If it fell out or got displaced you may have just stuck it in above the thing it’s supposed to be wrapped around.

Thank you! I can feel the ZL is stuck. I will open it up tomorrow.

The screen is fine now after resetting the position of the buttons.

I’ve fiddled with the plastic volume slider and sort of understand how the onboard volume works but I can’t see how the two connect. I think I might have lost a piece that bridges the two.

If worst comes to worst I’ll just manually set the volume to a reasonable level that won’t annoy us whenever the kids pick knit up.

In doing some poking around it seems like the 2dsxl in particular has a problem with the little nub on the slider breaking off during disassembly, so maybe that’s it? Basically there should be a little black nub sticking out that slots in to the plastic outer slider. If you’re missing the black nub, you probably broke it while taking it apart.

Did see a Reddit post where somebody broke off the blunt end of a sewing needle and stuck it in to the broken stump just far enough that it’d catch, but I think your plan of just putting it to a reasonable volume and not hackjob macguyvering it is probably a better option.

Homebrew can let you control the volume with software, at least when playing DS Roms.

You can get the DLC using hshop and you can get evolution medals using cheat code injection all via homebrew

So I finally bit on it and put CFW on my 3DS. But I'll admit that I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do with my newfound powers. I want to try out that Virtual Boy emulator, but aside from things like NES and SNES games and all that, what else is there? Can I do N64 stuff? I really just want to play Legend of the Mystical Ninja. Are there homebrew 3DS games that are worth a poo poo?

There's a fan port of SM64 that has full widescreen 60fps stereoscopic 3D and c-stick camera control. PS1 emulation works okay for some games on New models. There are tons of cool DS and 3DS romhacks that you can play, some of which are even hosted on hShop.

Look, I don't need to hand you a treasure map to sail those high seas, you can literally put the name of it into a search engine.

They even have a homebrew app for your 3DS. Doesn't even need a lot of effort to install it, the FBI app on your 3DS with custom firmware can just scan a QR code from their site.

Nintendo was correct to do so, as we should not be fettered by the past, but instead look ahead to the future and every day seek out new imaginative possibilities of games and play.

Nah, they should've done what Sony was (rightfully) bullied into and stopped at eliminating financial transactions through the storefront, because that was the only real security concern.

If the money's already in the Nintendo account, there's no reason to be worried about the 3DS saying "Buy me this game" to the server, because anything past that request is handled server-side.

I think it’s ridiculous they scrubbed everything off their website. Purchasing off the web should’ve stayed but they didn’t even keep the listings up.
