Is there a way to see the Pawn's actual name instead of the moniker? I'd prefer being able to see their names even if they are called "Chungus" or "xxx_Waifu_xxx"

Do the enemy encounter rates ever change? I'm already getting extremely tired of running into a pack of goblins, wolves, harpies or bandits literally every ~5-10 seconds after finishing the last group.

edit for future readers: It seems like the majority of enemies either don't respawn or have very long (multi-day) respawn timers so it's not as bad as I first thought, once you clear a path you can keep traversing it unaccosted for a while.

Yeah turn off the parental controls / filter. It’s off for me on PC so I can’t tell you how it’s done on your console. I’m currently paling around with Nick Cave, Garfield, and Squidward.

I'm on an i5 10400 which is just below minimum specs (plus a 1080ti) and I'm running on mostly solid 30fps at 1440p. Had FSR turned on initially but it looked like poo poo so I turned it off and haven't had any major dips. Still yet to get to the first big city though so we'll see how it goes there.

How do you proceed through the Cavern of the Forsaken after cooking the Ogre? Both routes seem to lead to dead ends - the one supposedly leading to an exit has a boulder in the way, and the one leading to the small bandit camp supposedly has the path continue onwards, but seems to lead to a dead end.

i have an i7-8700k. the overworld fps is good enough and stable enough that its more than playable, but i just got to the big city and the fps is defintely rough in there. hopefully its like the first game where low fps doesn't really matter because theres no combat but we'll see.

I spent most of my time playing tonight experimenting with different settings on PC. Ive ended up with a nice graphics settings configuration that both looks and runs much better then what it defaulted to. I made a Steam Guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3195438166

With this configuration I'm able to play at 4K with a mostly stable 60fps. The dynamic resolution option is on but I've found it's not nearly as noticeable as the other upscaling options which turn the image into a blurry mess. The other important setting is "Image Quality" this should definitely be at Max unless you're playing on a literal potato as it's just decreasing your actual render resolution even further. There are also some tweaks to brightness as I found the default and recommended settings to be somewhat washed out with both HDR and SDR.

FWIW I am playing on a 5900x, 3080 and have 32GB of RAM, but if you have a weaker GPU just drop the resolution to 1440p or 1080p.

Here are some screenshots:

Also I found some nice pants. Fashion Souls is the real game anyway.

(But lol at no FOV slider; i am having to play in short bursts)

Is that one in the cave with a chest and some weird hanging bones on rope? I got plastered by him but had an auto save in that same cave so I had to reload twice to actually escape and not die. He chased me and the 2 guys on my escort mission all the way to nearly town where I thought I was safe. I managed to kill him by him getting stuck on a rock long enough for me to bomb him and my pawns get some good hits while he was knocked down. He killed me on one hit if I got close normally haha.

So the game runs totally fine on PS5. It's for sure a bit slower in the bigger city, but its perfectly playable. I had a blast running around killing stuff.

Something seems weird with PSN though. I have like 8 friends who show as online and playing the game but I can't see any of their pawns via the rift search. The rift search in general seems to be semi broken.

edit: Just saw the game getting murdered in Steam reviews. Yikes. I had zero problems on PS5.

steam reviewers are enormous children who will claim a game is unplayable if they ever dip below 60 FPS at all for any reason

i'm on the world's most midrange PC and the only point where the game's FPS becomes atrocious is in the middle of the city, but i'm willing to shrug it off because it's a non-combat area that i'm mostly just chugging through. it's otherwise at a perfectly stable 50-60 FPS, which is all i need for a game that's already got a fairly languid combat pace

First impression of the game:

I... like?.. the world feel correct for the type of exploring you would do in this type of game, that is travelling from point A to point B.

Combat with the mage is good... I expected to feel hopeless weak, but instead I could deal some spells that kinda protect me and I feel I cover both bases, defense and offense. The whole game feels like a huge upgrade from the first game. Maybe a bit unfocused.

Like.. combat in DD2 feels like DD1 combat, but better.

I got surprised yesterday when I used a travel stone and received the notification that only 2% of players have used one in Xbox. Lol, these are precious, but not that precious.

Random thoughts after making it to the main city and crashing shortly after leaving:

- Game won't let me change my resolution no matter the window settings and looked like rear end until I manually typed my native resolution into the main directory config file.
- Tusk Toss being a core skill is cool but this input is going to take some getting used to. Not something you can rapid-fire spam to knock down large enemies like the original.
- I don't like how so much of the beginning is told through flashbacks, and how it uses the typical amnesia trope. DD1 started stronger. Also had more memorable early NPCs in Madeleine and Mercedes.
- Extremely artificially pitch-shifted pawns screaming about walking bones? I feel right at home.
- Pawns are shockingly good at killing things compared to DD1 where they were largely just there to say stupid poo poo for your amusement and nothing else.
- Pawn search seems busted? I can't search for anything my level or below, only above. So if I don't want to spend RC I've just gotta choose from the random assortment I get when entering the rift (which seems to be 75% generic pretty fighter/mage women).
- 2k to rest at the inn!? I will never sleep. I instead choose to not get hit ever again.

I'm also already teaching myself not to pick up everything. I got the ciri goon pawn who is kookoo nuts for picking things up so I clear her out periodically.

I eliminated almost all of my stutters by disabling the data harvesting in system -> network, so anyone who blindly accepted the agreement at the beginning should try that. I've anecdotally heard from others who were having minimal stuttering that they have it disabled.
