So how much more money can they possibly be making forcing RPers to buy emotes twice or three times, compared to how much whale goodwill they're burning through? there's a few halfway decent reasons to have alts in ff14. 1) you get more retainers without having to pay more irl money for them 2) you can get more limited time stuff like maps 3) you can scale some junk like the personal island to make bookoo bux on the marketplace but in general you have to be a pretty terminal omega nerd to do it. source: i am a terminal omega nerd who took 5 alts from chargen in 2.0 to finishing 6.0 to cope with the immense stress of my job. i've now left that immensely stressful job and i can do some pretty nutty things in niche situations in ff14 but you seriously have to be the most fail dork on the planet to consider it worth the time invested.
