it's happening. Costco is making the food court members only. it was only a matter of time for America's#1 fast- and medium- and slow- food superstore.

Bidens runaway inflation is forcing everyone to get Costco memberships. I of course had a hand in that by using legal loopholes to terrorize the economy. soon, government welfare programs will include a food court membership.

i mean I doubt thats true but its very common for men to retire and die soon after, its an interesting correlation between losing purpose and meaning (insanely sad), lacking structure to prevent turning into an unmoving potato/indulging in bad habits and retiring only when they're literally unable to keep working.

What happens pretty often is you find out you have terminal cancer at age 60 and then get to "retire early" straight into hospice for a few weeks of bottomless margs before the end. Happened to an uncle of mine. Very common in America.

Aside from the stupid amount on car loans, I bet that's a pretty typical for most Americans right now.

It's been shocking how often people I know will just casually bring up spending $2000+ per month to service credit card minimum payments or BNPL stuff. And the fun part is that it's probably, like, mostly fine if you happen to already own your house, because getting a mortgage is the one thing where a truly hosed DTI ratio might hurt you. But if you have income, already have your mortgage, and you can make those minimums then burning your financial life to the ground will have fairly minimal consequences for a long time or possibly never.

Don’t forget the $320/month on Yamaha. Most likely some toy that rarely gets used, ATV or snowmobile or something. But whatever it is, it is what that person is using to justify the $1k note on a Silverado.

For some reason gas and groceries have two entries each month. Unless that is for each person I. The household or something.

I really wanted to buy a metal detector this summer to search parks and common spaces in my area that were founded in the 1820s-1860s. I wanted to get some exercise, walk my dog more, and maybe find some cool stuff. I did a little research and discovered that it's prohibited on almost all public land in my county and the adjacent counties, except for 1 county that allows me to search public parks. If I submit a yearly permit application, promise to not dig any holes, and only search on the surface of regularly mowed areas of the parks.

It's a jet ski. That's the same as my car payment, for something they might use a few times a year

The green side is servicing those bnpl payments at minimum, the pink side is is after liquidating savings to pay them

The shithead conservative line is that people take on debt because they're gluttons who need to spend on ridiculously unnecessary luxuries, but consumer lending companies are smart enough to recognize that not having money in America is a miserable experience and their marketing zeroes in hard on "we will make your life suck less."

:hmmyes: it's this. I can't get out of the city in less than an hour, and I only have 3 hours after work and commute to make dinner, clean up from cooking etc. If you can't reliably block PTO to be able to do things you just don't do them, and PTO is also where your doctor's appointments come from as well as your kid's and their school holidays and their medical poo poo.

And this. There's a Rule about everything. It rules because it uses a correct observation (that you are absolutely not free in America if you don't have a ton of money) to prey on and destroy people. We live in an amazing country.

i do not understand whats going on with these column totals. i assume its like a his and hers situation but why does each one have its own 'left over' column? bi weekly pay period type thing?

edit: seems like the only difference in the 'left over' totals is whether or not hes including his buy now pay later purchases? lol

'yahama' at that number i assume means hes got two car notes and a motorcycle... he makes pretty good money based on the 'left over' too bad hes real bad with it :pwn:

"if the new online stuff takes off, they wont need my [area of responsibility] as much, so id better torpedo it immediately"-type thinking is par for the course in the US.

in fact, ive worked at several places where new ideas/new thinking were specifically discouraged and punished. i worked for this one company where a dude suggested tracking some stuff we were doing manually in a database, to make that stuff faster and less error-prone, and the manager berated him in the daily staff meeting and assigned him to all of the worst service calls for a month. good poo poo!!!

Okay, no judgement, because I've been there and done that....

....you are paying for your life and fun with debt because you can afford the payment, not because you can actually afford it.

There is a mindset issue here. Three vehicle payments - problem. Many loans/lines of credit/cards - problem. Way too many subscriptions - problem.

I get it, like I said, been there and done that.

You really need to change how you're approaching life. Pick up some extra income, and pay down those debts. In my case I started a business which finally landed an 18 month contract

what a great loving idea, expose yourself to losing everything in order to pay your debts off
