There are multiple goblin tiers, if some of the later ones ganged up and formed a kick circle on a pawn I could see it happening. Especially if your already busy with some other escalating fracas that they're butting into.

its surprising how little footage of Trickster stuff there seems to be, or there's just a deluge of lovely clickbait videos on youtube, but either way it's disappointing

e: I guess if this game has the superbandits right next to normal bandits then it could do that with goblins I haven't seen yet

Someone in this thread mentioned they hired a friend's pawn to send them back with an item and when that pawn returned they listed a bunch of stuff that had nothing to do with the 20 seconds they were hired for. I mean this is easily testable/reproducible if anyone wanted to test it out. If true then it kind of kills the magic a bit, but they could just be generating a lot of "this is what I did with that arisen" lines randomly so you can imagine what your pawn experienced even if none of it is true.

I was watching a friend stream the game earlier today and he actually died to some really basic goblin poo poo because in the middle of an ogre fight two goblins jumped him. One hit him from behind, then the other hit him, and they basically just shoved him around until he died. So it's possible something like that happens.

The lack of enemy variety is extremely disappointing. If there's any DLC, I hope they address that. But honestly I'm not expecting more than 2-3 new enemies.

Sometimes just reloading the game has fixed strange/seemingly bugged quest behavior for me, other times leaving the area and coming back. In particular there were two instances where I needed a reload: during the Trial of Archery, the lady elf disappeared on me but reloading the game popped her back in. Also, during Tolled to Death, I had already taken the grimoire and couldn't interact with Oskar to give it back to him until after I reloaded the game.

Well I hecked up the sphinx quests on accident. I was onto her last quest at the Frontier Shrine (which is much easier to stumble across than the main Sphinx shrine), and she was like “find this NPC” and I’m like hey I recognise this nasty little gremlin. Turns out it was a dude who looked almost just like him, so I totally misunderstood the trick to that quest. Should have realized such a recognizable NPC would mean it’s a trick. Sadly, I disappointed the best romance option in the game and she flew away.

Think it just depends what class you are, as a mystic spearhand the guy isn’t invulnerable to the stun so you can just repeatedly stun and anime execute him until he falls over.

Perhaps the name should have clued you in. The two NPCs are named Dante and Vergil, implying that they're twins. Like Dante and Vergil in Devil May Cry the main difference between them is their hair

this glorious monument

So I just maxxed out the sorcerer and Warrior vocations for my main and pawn respectively and now I don't know what to do. I think I want to try either Magic Archer or Mystic Spearhead on my main but I think I want to keep my pawn either a fighter or a warrior. Any suggestions? Any other classes I should grab feats from? Any pitfalls?

Don't worry about the feats, more than half of them are 5% bonuses.

This is probably true, but makes me sad.

It at least seems to track what quests they've done and items they've picked up, so maybe stuff related to the pawn dying or doing a lot of questing is at least real.

The helmets are annoying, yeah. I deliberately am avoiding upgrading and instead use one of the mid-tier circlet-ish ones.

A lot of the body armors look super neat though.

Martial classes don't get one of those helmets that don't cover your hair until the very end of the game, so my fighter/warrior pawn just spends the whole game without one.

Dunno if this is common knowledge, but for a lot of helmet you can click on them and Raise/Lower visor, so that's something at least.

Edit: Also, use the west ropeway in Battahl for a cave with the best hat in the game

Finished the game and post-game last night and was really happy to see that my romance choice was totally out of the blue - the warfarer maister Lamond. Which, thinking on it, I actually really like that it was him and not Ulrika or someone else? It felt kinda fitting that the credits rolled out and the arisen who wasn't skilled enough to defeat his own dragon got to meet and help someone who did (me :slick:). I'm assuming it was him cause I did a single escort quest with him before I rolled into the end of the game, but while the credits rolled my 2nd option was Eini, the grandma of the little girl you give spellbooks to north of Melve, and THEN Ulrika, the woman who I saved multiple times, saved her first village, saved her second and installed her as chief, had a romantic cutscene with on the beach, etc.

Overall, the game was really cool but I think even with all it's shortcomings it would have been difficult to truly disappoint me since I loved the first one so much and was happy to just see a sequel here. I think there's a lot of places the game can certainly be improved and I'm pretty optimistic that a good, hefty expansion will help out a bunch.

Warfarer gives me the same sort of decision paralysis as late-game Dante in DMCV which I guess is a good thing. The sheer breadth of fashion and skill choices is wild. I may just switch back to Fighter for the endgame since that's what I started off with. Magick Archer is awesome but also very OP.

I was worried that the Bow quest with the elf was gonna be having to like run and jump and hit targets in motion (myself and the targets) or something so the fact it was just literally shooting a single target and the elf dude going,"HOLY gently caress :psypop:!" was hilarious.

You have been called out, in the ways of old.
Godmode/charged ranged attack/that attack that makes you rush at enemies/jedi force throw
For damage you can just spam the gently caress out of basic attack to do that twirly thing.
Make sure you have magick pawns so they can buff your weapon with elemental damage.

I miss my cat someone buy me a kitten.

So I’m lining up a shot on a thing when the warrior I hired runs past with a goblin skewered on the end of her hugeass sword and uses the goblin skewer to stab a chunk of rock out of the wall.

I really wish I could be bothered to record this fkn game sometimes. I’ve also experienced the intense joy of “slide down incline and then all 3 pawns faceplant inelegantly”. Oh, it’s perfect comedy.

I have a strong suspicion that those lines are randomly generated, unfortunately. One time a goon summoned my pawn to give them a gift and then immediately sent them back. She came back saying something about how she had put her skills to good use.

I've been trying a less-severe setup from level 1, most especially reducing exp by 75%, and all I gotta say is watch out for the stagger/impact settings. At .5 to them and 1.25 to me, all I could do was walk into a bandit camp before they'd throw me into a circle and chain-beat me to death.

Yeah if you have any experience with Devil May Cry 4 or 5 it’s basically the charged shots mechanic from those games, you can charge them up during any and all animations. You can stunlock any large enemy by hitting them with slow, wailing on them with The Star Wars Kid combo, then hitting them with another slow as soon as it wears off.

It’s extremely powerful but so are most of the other classes so personal preference really.
