Many years ago in college I was researching the Big Tobacco lawsuits of the nineties for a paper I was writing and found some stat that Virginia had actually used the payout to subsidize tobacco farming. It hindsight it was my first real crack-ping moment.

also, camel crushes are the fuckin' future of cigarettes, but as usual americans get hosed over with the worst version. in asia and south america you can buy multiple different brands of crush-based cigs, there are even double-crush varieties, so you have one little ball that is menthol, and one this is loving grape and they are the god tier cig. just an incredible experience. in china they sell crush cigs that are cig roulette--you know what flavors are in there (well, chinese people do, i couldn't read it) but the cigs themselves are unmarked. there's a novelty cig brand in china with Operator marketing, so the cigs themselves have a little time-scale on the outside of the tube, how many minutes it would take to burn from that point, so you can use it for your sabotage ops, and the pack itself is camo. anyway, cigs rule, and we get the worst of them here.

I remember thinking, drat id probably do that if it was WW2 too

speaking of spyware, I signed up to fill out yougov polls & surveys a couple months ago, mainly to represent socialist olds in polling. they incentivize reponses by dangling a free $15 gift card after getting "points" for taking surveys but I've filled out like 20 so far and yet I'm only around halfway to that gc. anyway, they're trying to get me to load spyware in order to rack up more points, lol.  YouGov Safe doesn't sound very safe to me!

You can't use device management software on an Apple device without interacting with the app store and all the software pushes you do with these systems go through the app store so even if you can keep the ads from the users you can't keep the analytics they generate from Apple Apple MDMs let you do things that users could do without the users permission or input, so you use it to install monitoring software or remote wipe a device, they don't let you disconnect from the apple ecosystem or drastically reconfigure the device. I think there may be some kiosk mode style things we can do but otherwise
