Reminder that the A&M Corps of Cadets used to have a "tradition" where the older members stood on top of the bonfire and pissed on the younger members while they built it. Because of this, the Corps used to refer to sophomores as "piss-heads". Maybe still does.

Jesus 12 people died? That's a big fuckup, just horrible. Henderson State does a homecoming bonfire, back in the 90s some idiot left a gas can in the middle and it exploded and burned the homecoming court taking pictures in front

Seaniqua posted:What if they made the bonfire... smaller? They did. And made a ton of safety measures so it is no longer a house of cards waiting to fall. Every log touches the ground now, wired together more diligently, and have more supports drilled into the ground to support it. It’s still a dangerous affair due to being a large civil project but it has had professional oversight ever since it came back. Bring it back to campus imo

I wonder if the new CFB video game will have Pac 12 graphics in it for people to rebuild the conference.

This just feels incredibly cheap, but maybe they’re just desperate to keep the game on campus. They probably could’ve negotiated with New Trier High School and gotten more seating.

Since the stadium is being built in cook county I bet Northwestern will be playing at that practice field for five years minimum.

I know Northwestern is historically one of the worst programs in conference history, but they've been pretty consistently respectable for 20 years. Playing on the practice field for 2+ years to bleacher seating for like 10,000 people is going to damage their revenue to a huge degree. Northwestern is close enough a drive to most of the Big Ten. They could at least fill part of a larger stadium with visiting fans. It just seems institutionally embarrassing. They make like twice as much TV money as Florida State and they can't figure out how to rent out one of the baseball stadiums at least?

Allegiant Stadium has a roof that doesn't move and a grass field that does. SoFi Stadium has a roof that hovers. Its suspended above the walls by columns and weighed down by the big screen.
