I know it's probably been done a few times in this thread(and on Reddit), but I've worked at Costco for 10 years now if anyone wants to ask anything. I really only know the morning merch(stocking) aspect of it, but I know a tiny bit of everything. I've stocked every single department and it's absolutely the most physically demanding retail job I've had. I walk to Target and go to their Pizza Hut food court or to their Frozen section because having another hot dog or slice from Costco makes me want to vomit

Zero VGS posted:Sometimes you learn to hate something not from the content, but the fans. Like I might have given Rick and Morty a chance if I didn't have "that guy" try to tell me about it. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I just got a dog at Costco and noticed the receipt is charging 7% tax, $1.61 total. But Massachusetts meal tax is 6.25%. What's up with that? If they're stealing a penny per hot dog that's $1.5 million each year. edit: Ooh, they're stocking Clearly Canadian. I loved that poo poo 30 years ago. That cookie has more calories in it than a whole meal for me. I remember someone mentioned they thought pbfit powder was going away: i think they just changed the packaging. I saw it today and it was in a bag instead of a jar.

Sloppy posted:What's the stupidest thing you've ever seen a customer do? Honestly I work 6 hours stocking without any members, then 2 on. I haven't seen anything stupid really. The only thing I can think of is a woman pointing to a sign and, in a very heavy eastern european accent, asking why that was marked down. I explained the many reasons why it might have been, then she looked at me and said "Why are you telling me all this? Just look up the price". Not the best story someone who has been there 10 years should have, but I'm never really around the members Alan Smithee posted:doesn't your breakroom have a microwave and oven I'd say like 90% of the poo poo you'd actually want to eat for lunch at a Costco freezer requires an actual oven, and even if it doesn't, it'd take too long to make on your 30 minute lunch. There are some things for sure, like the Costco chicken nuggets, that wouldn't take up the majority of your lunch time. I honestly like just getting out of the warehouse and doing literally anything else besides being there. Jingleheimer posted:What is your favorite and least favorite area to stock and why? Favorite: Candy Least favorite: Deli 19 The favorite and least favorite is straight up just in terms of easiest/hardest. Candy is just so straight forward and easy to the point that I don't understand why they throw new people into foods rather than candy. D19 is so stupidly hard if you don't have a competent backup. You have to learn what every single box looks like, you have to be amazing at condensing boards, you have to be able to communicate with your driver about whether or not you'll be able to finish.. Yeah Deli 19 sucks. I work the cooler and have been for 4 years now. It's tough. I have to be the decision maker on endcaps and mandartories, but I like that way more than having managers down my throat. Honestly 5 years ago I was just a floater and had no idea what I was doing nor did I know what anyone else was doing. I just went to whatever section they had me down in
