Would it be unfair of me to say that this game probably has the worst escort missions in the history of video games?

If you equip it with different equipment than it came with, that gets sent back as a gift. But it warns you very explicitly about that before you do it. Anything in the inventory goes to storage.

I don't like that they blindside you with them and if you are in the middle of something else you have to reject them, but otherwise they're not that bad. You can Ferrystone and they will come with you, and generally speaking I haven't had anyone die or even come close to it while escorting.

Yes because the first game exists.

Anyway, is there any vital need for a preserved medusa head? I got one, then decided to see what happens if you gave it to the forgery guy and he gives you a regular medusa head while your preserved head is now decayed.

This is probably another reason people love the corset on pawns. Corset weighs basically nothing compared to "real" armor. So even when your main pawn has more total capacity thanks to bugs+thew augment+1 carry ring? It is the corset fighters who have more free space.

Yeah, but almost all corset pawns are probably cheated, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had given themselves max carry capacity as well

The pathing is bad and the NPCs are slow, but there are games where both of those are a problem but also the NPC is far more frail and the enemies explicitly target them. So no, they're bad, but they're far from as bad as they could be. I have absolutely seen worse.

It does help, yeah. Sure someone you rescued from wolves can free himself from your grip every thirty seconds. But you can still make sure you are carrying them when crossing a deadly bridge-Pawns, pawns please. Why are you like this?

I'm trying to do the one where you have to escort both the dwarf and his wife at the same loving time, which means no shortcuts. I just want to throw both of them in the ocean but alas there is no more ocean. The worst part is I have already escorted both of these fuckers to the exact same spot on different occasions. It's like a double dose of an already crappy mission.

There's just so many layers of why the escort missions suck imo. First off there is nothing interesting about them it's literally just busywork. People need to get from point a to b with no context and little reward. The destinations are far, the rewards are low. But the worst part is how easy it is to lose track of NPCs. They are slow as gently caress and the trek is so long it's easy to just forget about them or they die to monsters. If they die their marker disappears and you have to just cross your fingers that you can find their body, or abandon the quest, then get them from the morgue and do it all over again. If you let them get too far behind they just walk back home (and usually just die along the way)

Best case scenario for escort quests is wasting a ferrystone to get them there quickly for a reward that is far less valuable than a ferrystone.

Ferrystones being a thing (also the sphinx bottle) puts these amongst the least worst escort missions in the history of video games imho. They still suck because escort missions suck, but that's very much one of the most tolerable implementations.

Hit it until it's not a problem anymore
No way, the escorts are real bad. Ferrystones are rare and sealing phial is one use. It feels bad to turn down someone, but it feels worse taking forever trying to get them to navigate or using a ferrystone to get 120 RC and some flowers.

Oh, as long as someone is in "following" status, usually indicated by having a yellow diamond, they will go along when you ferrystones. Helpful to know on the volcanic Island evacuation quest as mentioned above.

You can buy 1-2 ferrystones in most cities and I'm usually able to keep myself between 10-20 at all times just by buying them whenever I'm in the area. It's pretty easy to stay stocked on them ime

That one was extremely easy? Like, you had to walk there in the first place. Which meant clearing everything.

All you are doing is walking back since all the monsters are dead. I sprinted most of the time and neither one got lost or stuck on anything either.

e: in a game that has 0 respect for your time, that escort mission doesn't even break the top 10

The mod managed modifies the game files, so if you two are going to be playing the same copy of the game so it's going to be modified in the same way.

The best solution is probably for you to disable the mods after you're done, or teach her how to disable them.

Every. loving. Wolfpack. Runs away in reaction to my aggro roars :argh:

Considering how often that ends up with them running in place with their head clipping inside of rocks in their rush to scatter, I can't decide if it is jank or the wolf AI running off of input read "We know you are charging a 360 swing, idiot" tactics.

Wolves, lizards, and everything else LOVE sprinting past taunting pawn fighter/warrior towards my ranged classes. Yet enemies treat me taunting with aggro augments as "oooh, better stay away from that guy" :sigh:

Playing as a warrior I've never found the roar useful. It's not a forced target change so it's not good at it's job where if I just start shoulder checking and swinging enemies end up coming after me or eating a hit that puts them on the floor or sends them off a cliff. Aggro is fake just shoulder into skills or swings

I mean you could say it, but it would be really inaccurate, they're annoying but like people have said no other game lets you just fast travel them to the destination or carry them, they don't even have fail states if the person dies because you can just revive them!

Only had it once and had the beach romance followup immediately afterwards. Clearly that didn't impress my Arisen because the game decided that elven princess was The Beloved (tm). I guess chatting up elven princess in the nip when encountering her at the hot spring on my only visit of the place sealed the deal.

I got tricked into escorting Elfdad at the Arbor after he approached me, spoke some Elvish that I didn't understand, and gave me a dialogue choice that I had no context for with options that I could not read.

Fucker made me take him to a spot with a chimera and wouldn't complete the quest until I took it down (while also keeping him alive), which was quite difficult as a 2 Fighter group against a 4x hp chimera at level ~20.

Normally I hate being 'The aggro guy' but I like my pawns not being maimed :ohdear: But if it does not even help I can be fully selfish guilt free!

Probably the dumbest use of warrior, but I really want to see if I can get on something's shoulders to impale their skull with surging strike.

*A few fights later* It does not, in fact, want to impale large monster heads even after they fall down  It does however, tempt me to keep it because it is 1,000% faster at wrecking fallen big goblins than the incredibly clunky Y button double swing finisher. My broke brain is also keeping Skyward swing instead of switching to "Clearly designed for dragon heart stabbing" Knoll breaker, because Skywarwd clips through the ground to crush golem ankles on the way up to bonk their arms.

I am such a sucker for "In X wacky hitbox scenario, Y is great!". It is why I like high salamander, because it will warp down a 500 foot ledge or ladder to roast slimes hoping not being able to lock onto them means a free lunch.
