if it proves anything, musk's comedy of errors buying twitter is proof you can never have so much money that you can't blow it on stupid bullshit. how much money is "enough" depends entirely on someone's taste for stupid bullshit

The amount of poo poo I get for complaining about the difficulty of living on 80k in California from people back east when I'm dealing with medical issues hour drives and poo poo beyond that is infuriating. 100k is really really really solid and I am so happy to be making as much as I am but I am not going to be retiring anytime soon. Just give me some public transportation, please. Or fix my potholes.

Install cattle guards like they put on rural roads, except sized to prevent cars from passing.

Those are called “bus traps” i think - Stockholm has a fair bit of them around, where it’s a narrowing of the road and then a bit of k-rail that sticks up in the middle of the lane. The bus can go over it no problem, but cars will get their oil pan taken out.

Remember in 2021 when LAPD shot that girl in the dressing room when they were called out for some crazy guy hitting people with a bike lock? Surprise Surprise CA DOJ doesn't recommend charges against the officer: https://calmatters.org/justice/2024/04/california-wont-prosecute-lapd-officer-who-shot-teenage-girl-in-stores-dressing-room/ Previous analysis from back then: BeAuMaN posted:LAPD released edited video; no video of the moment of shooting, so you're only watching the moment up to the person dying and after. BeAuMaN posted:Thanks for that. That video definitely puts it in a worse light. They're talking about deploying the 40mm less-than-lethal on the suspect as part of the plan, and they're telling jones, who I assume is the guy on point with the rifle, to slow down, and he doesn't. Guy with less-than-lethal gets there just at the moment that the suspect gets smoked, along with the 14 year old girl. It's especially apparent starting at 30:34 (less lethal guy is in the bottom left view).

https://www.sfgate.com/cannabis/article/medmen-bankruptcy-19429105.php "California’s first cannabis company valued at over a billion dollars appears to have completed its long descent into failure. MedMen, once hailed as the “Apple Store of weed,” declared bankruptcy last week, according to a press release published by the company late Friday. " and "The company’s $1.6 billion valuation allowed MedMen’s executives to spend lavishly, including purchasing luxury cars, expensive security details and private jets. The retailer opened locations in Beverly Hills and Fifth Avenue in New York City, one of the most expensive real estate locations in the world, even though New York state had yet to fully legalize cannabis. At its peak, it reported employed more than 1,300 people and had stores in seven states, including three in the Bay Area." Not sure how the lavish spending helped promote the sale of cannabis. In any case, it seems that people prefer buying it cheaper but illegally, as the dispensary business doesn't seem to be doing great as a whole.
