you can just use your normal voice, the character animation is an entirely separate component from the voice modulation

i'm guessing the commercial operations use voice modulation because they want to be able to swap out the person behind the character whenever they start feeling like they deserve a bigger cut of the income, but if you're just doing it for your own sake and don't mind people hearing your voice (and perhaps saying "hey why does feathers mcgraw sound like professor sagebrush") you can totally skip it

Being a Vtuber agency is even a billion dollar business.

At least one vtuber isn’t high pitched, Google Orihime/Ori Ch, but a lot of the content is people getting a bit too excited with the voice. Especially in games like Valorant, with a lobby system.

we monitor many frequencies. we listen always. came a voice, out of the babel of tongues, speaking to us. it played us a mighty dub.

is it possible to get a vtuber that isn't a horrible anime waif with a child's voice?

like can i set up a rig to be a wallace and gromit style claymation character for instance

yes, former (possibly current) SA poster geop does streams with a cartoon of siegmeyer from darksouls as his avatar

there are a lot of agencies that are just horrendous examples of dystopian capitalism incarnate. nijisanji recently got put on blast for releasing an investor relations document that straight up said "we shitcanned someone who was costing us a lot of money because internal studies showed it wouldn't affect our profit significantly" for example

yeah, it's significant. hololive's 2023 revenue was 20 billion yen, with a net profit of 2.5 billion. there is Big Money in managing popular vtubers

I want to say at one point Apple sold a lead-acid battery pack for the //c as well so in theeeeeory it was a Portable. I know it takes like 15v at 1.5 amps or something like that. It would actually be really trivial to run one off a 4x lipo pack these days!

One of the weirder computers that's crossed my bench for a time is a quadra 800 crammed into a 700 case. It was dope.

that owns though. i didn't know about mousepaint or it having an early macos-like ui, but that's really cool too imo lol. it shows apple was thinking about using that ui design (and kinda did, with the lisa) pretty early on

i haven't used the ii series (except the iigs) very much tbh. idk why

there's a few dudes who do this but they have a little cat sitting on top of the anime lady's head or on her shoulder that has the lip synchronization hooked up instead of hooking it up to the anime lady, it's great
