Still enjoying BG3, finished act 2. Needed to drop FOMO attitude & stick with my three favorite companions & not sweat missing the other character arcs for this play through. Glad I looked up recommended classes as Bard is fun.

It is mainly played in DCS. Played every Saturday. SECOND EVENT MERCENARY CAMPAIGN, Brownwater Corporation. Played mostly on Sundays. quote:Ludicrous plot lines, lots of free planes, crazy stuff, insane plot, and even more. Played mostly on Sunday in DCS. Very newbie friendly! THIRD EVENT: quote:FALCON BMS, The original, the free, the legendary. The absolute queen of F-16 simulation. Older than most, yet better in so many ways.

Glad I looked up recommended classes as Bard is fun. I feel like I've OD'd on Baldur's Gate 3 at this point. Not going to reveal how many hours I have in the game but it's an absurd amount. As a change of pace I find myself playing Ixion, again. Self-similar space is the best space.

Destroyer: The Uboat Hunter is fully released now and it’s oddly addictive.

I got it in last month's humble choice, should give it a whirl. How difficult is the learning curve? I used to play a ton of Silent Hunter so I'm fine with playing something at that level, but with my limited gaming time, I don't really have the patience for something that's gonna take like 3+ hours to fully understand/play on a weeknight.

It’s more arcade than silent hunter, if you do the tutorial you should get the hang of it. Lots of going around in circles trying to line up a depth charge run, but the game rewards keeping convoy ships alive as much as actually sinking the subs.

I love UBOAT. Even more than Silent HUnter. It isn't quite as groggy, and it is perhaps bit more micro-intensive with crews, but it definitely scratches the same itch.

you guys ever check out the sim wargame genre, basically modern day Harpoon on PC? i found a link pointing at https://www.matrixgames.com/game/command-modern-air-naval-operations-wargame-of-the-year-edition but are there other, better (public) games on PC?

Am I missing the obvious? Cold Waters is grog-lite submarine game that is exciting and works well, and is still somewhat approachable.

That’s fair, I’m in the third act of my first playthrough & enjoying it but dunno if gonna do another run through anytime soon. I am a big fan of the generous fast travel & appreciate how the bosses generally don’t have immunity to high level spells so there are lots of options.

The big key to BG3 is that you shouldn't try to do everything on one play through. Not only is it actually not possible, but it leaves plenty left for other playthroughs.

Never played any of em. Haven't played any since the old Gold Box games. I know it's a common setting, but are there any characters or storylines that continue across BG games, or are they self-encapsulated

Yeah I’ve enjoyed returning characters but definitely wouldn’t feel lost if I hadn’t played the originals. On another gaming note, half hour into new Fallout show & it is way better than I expected. Absolutely nailing funny/grim tone & lore while telling interesting new story.

BG1 and 2 are much more closely linked than 3. 3 is in the same world, around the same time, and a few characters show up to wink and nod at the fans that you won't even notice if you're not there for it.

I really like the way you build out your space station in Ixion, it's like construction Tetris and your OCD gets just as triggered when you end up with empty spaces.

Almost done with BG3 play through & while I like it a lot did anyone else find the end part a slog? I get what they were going for with the big battles but there are way too many characters on the giant map. Especially when it’s obvious we’re gonna win but still have to eat up time chasing down every mook who fell off a tower & is in a hard to shoot area. Climbing the tower to reach the brain was a time tax, and the whole “avoid the glowing target areas” felt unoriginal, especially with how innovative the rest of the game has been. Then found out I was doing the last big fight wrong with tons of enemies there to grapple or stun, & lots of instant death. Wish they’d gone a little less epic, like the Ketheric fight felt more strategic.

I love BG3 and got to act 3 three different times. Act 3 just had waaaaay too much talking and not enough gameplay. I never got far into act 3, probably will one day though.

That’s fair, the city looks great but a bit sprawling & it seems to have a problem with tedious or glitchy quests. Like the haunted mansion or fireworks factory. Also less incentive to do quests when at max level.

Maybe it comes together more hopefully.

Control is one of my favorite games as well, but I can see how the plot can be a bit of an acquired taste for some. That game really made me miss having access to a sauna. Comrade Blyatlov posted:Please post your thoughts I only just installed it this morning but give me a couple of days and I'll write up a post with some more details. Seems fun so far though! In terms of gameplay I've seen people describe it as a mashup of Frostpunk, Total War and Crusader Kings. It very much feels like a chill city builder so far but I suspect that poo poo will probably go sideways soon enough.

Oh that’s good, yeah it’s lots of fun to throw enemies around & dash through glass walls. A big part of wanting to give it a try was I liked Alan Wake & heard it ties in with the sequel.

On the latter - you do the main game, then the Foundations DLC, then the AWE DLC that's the Alan Wake II tie-in. Then you play Alan Wake II.
