Overpasses are actually more dangerous because when you're not in a building or car you are at severe risk of being killed by debris.

If you are about to be caught by a tornado hold up your hand towards your son and shake your head, indicating you don't want him to save you because the world is not ready to know about his abilities.

Nearly seven years ago, a century-old wooden yacht was purchased for $1. Last week she made it back into the water. I found the Tally Ho videos because of this thread and this milestone deserved to be shared, whether to catch people up from years ago or dive into the project all night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3Rgj_Khflk

ilmucche posted:An all timer I used to work in a lab with a guy named Timo, and we once watched this clip and then had a good laugh about it. Except in the team was also a guy who was like the physical manifestation of "Reddit rear end in a top hat". He kept trying to do really bad PUA poo poo to the women in our group, he was constantly mansplaining poo poo to everyone (this was a university research lab, so everyone there had at least a MSc in the field and most people were doctors, which wasn't stopping his dumb "bachelor's degree equivalent from a technical school" rear end one bit), and he also had no personality or sense of humour, and had completely replaced both of those with godawful meme poo poo. Like a less successful Elon Musk. Anyway, after that one time when we watched that clip, he would keep pulling out that "straight into the rear end of Timo" line literally every loving hour, if not more often. He kept doing it for weeks after everyone else had stopped even smiling at his poo poo. E: he also once managed to nuke our entire multi-year research database AND the backups with some insanely bad SQL queries he decided to run, and if I hadn't made it my responsibility to also take redundant secondary (and tertiary) backups of our backups, we would've lost our entire research project because our redditor "database expert" turned out to be more musk than previously thought possible. How, you ask? First he managed to nuke our entire database by writing zeroes in every column of every row,, and then, in trying to make up for his gently caress-up, of course without telling anyone about what he'd done or what he was doing, got the "copy everything from the backup to the main DB" query backwards. I saw this video elsewhere and there was huge debate on whether this is bad practice. Some people were concerned that the dry loose earth would mix with the concrete, making it weak. Others said if the ground is compact enough, you can pour directly onto it without forming. I’m not a concrete guy so just said “hell yeah”.
