I guess for me, though, "Gainaxing" is associated more with lighthearted / humorous ecchi and is generally played for laughs and fanservice, and I didn't really feel that it was appropriate for such a visceral scene, in a tonal sense.

We're in the zone where I super wonder what they're going to compress or where the season will end again. The episode preview says next whole ep is shapeshifters, and I was wondering if they might try to squish that down but looks like no. It's possible that Canaries don't actually do anything this season, cliffhanger it at them just entering floor 1 or something? Which is more likely, Canaries barely entering or Trigger skipping Dumplings till next season? Floor 1 also presents some pretty perfect season cliffhangers.

yeah, i am really hoping that they get to the floor 1 part but so far the necessary compression hasn't happened. at 2/episode its ending at 52 it still seems like it would be super weird to give the canaries that much billing and then give them nothing to do though

They've pretty consistently kept to no more than 2-3 chapters an episode and they've kept in pretty much everything so far. At the current pace the season should wrap up with Kabru & Mithrun falling with Thistle & Falin from the 1st floor. At the same pace it looks like an 8 episode 3rd season would get to Chapter 72 post-Thistle fight and the Canaries showing up at the cottage, with another 8 episode final season to wrap up the Canaries, Marcille, Winged Lion, and Falin.

At 2 per with no substitutes E18 Shapeshifters 1+2 E19 Hag+Nightmare E20 Ice Golem + Barometz E21 Egg + Golden Co E22 Griffin + Familiars E23 Griff soup, Dumpling 1 E24 Dumpling 2, bacon and egg. Floor 1 is 3 chapters. So to end at the point you say, we have to squeeze in at least three triple header eps into this list. What gets shaved down? I mean ideal case is this is secretly a 13 ep cour but everything I've seen always says 24 total.

Doh my episode count was off by one, for some reason I thought Harpies/Chimera was Episode 16 and not 17. Yeah it'll be interesting to see if/how they fit things in, with the amount they've shown the Canaries in promo stuff they at least have to get to the 1st Floor chapters in this season.

Order might also shift around a little so we don't spend the last episode entirely on the upstairs crew. My best guess right now is we do like E22 Griffin, floor 1 1 E23 Familiar, floor 1 2 E24 Griffin soup, floor 1 3 Which gives us a climax for Senshi's mini arc and a cliffhanger for the canaries, but no changelings or tram ride this season. Timeline wise, the events of floor 1 all take place prior to or during shapeshifters anyway so it doesn't really mess anything up. Or get up to bacon and eggs and have cliffhanger being the Canaries heading down the stairs into the dungeon maybe. Or have some but not all of floor 1, cliffhanger when Falin shows up or when it looks like Mithrun is gonna kill her. But this also needs more space.

I think you could probably cut Griffin in half and get away with it, leaving the Golden Country in the episode before, and first encounter with the Griffin in Not-Moria after I'm conflicted because on one hand, I think changelings is a good episode to start a new season on, but on the other I want it NOW

I deffo think bacon and egg + floor 1 is the best place to end this narrative wise, I just don't see a way to actually do that in practice so it's a question of compromise. Can't do bacon and egg without the whole changeling arc first imo, so it kind of comes down to picking either floor 1 or changelings and cutting the other. I'd much rather them not compress or wholly skip content even if it's at the sake of a banger season end... Because assuming they don't rush things to squeeze in content the banger will still be coming whenever we get next season 🙏🙏📿

they condensed the seven chapters of red dragon into 3 episodes and even tossed in an eighth chapter in the third ep. i honestly wasn't sure that this last episode would manage to fit everything in since chimera is an extra long chapter, but action sequences are easier to get across in animation and can be made more concise. all of which to say i still have hope for a chapter 55 cliffhanger

I think someone here posted a picture from the Delicious in Dungeon expo, so I have a problem/question I need to ask: I’m currently in Tokyo now and have tried getting my hotel concierge’s help in registering for the event online and even they couldn’t help me ie how to input half-width and full-width furigana for my name, password etc for making an account on the eplus website.  I’m afraid tickets will sell out if I wait until the day of the event on Saturday, so would I be able to reserve a ticket in advance by going in person today? I was planning on heading to Akihabara this afternoon anyways which seems close to Solamachi, so just wondering if this method would work so I don’t waste time and money on a trip there.

I'm not sure how to really quantify this other than in ~*vibes*~, but it feels like where we are in the anime is where Ryoko Kui's appreciation for CRPGs (as she stated in that interview Famitsu did with her that she only started to game for research following Dungeon Meshi's serialization and then got hooked on them) starts to enter the manga. Cithis at least reminds me of how Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 really loved facial tattoos on its characters.
