How do you get people with max affinity to come to your house and brawl? I occasionally see them standing in front of it when I return, usually when they also hung a gift at the door or when they want an escort, but they never enter the door. Or I spend too little time in my house, all I do is rest and deposit poo poo so I'm usually in and out in 30secs (that's what she said).

The simplest way is to have at least one other in town at max affinity, then when you see one hanging out in front of your house, go pick up the other one and walk them to your house.

It seems glitchy even then, but just wait for a minute or two and it should trigger even if they don't actually fight.

That kid can throw hands, Brant better watch out.

Is there ever any sort of follow up to the Jadeite Orb quest? You can do it multiple ways and there's pawn commentary about doing it the good or bad way, but the rich merchant never really mentions it again and the other guy disappears from the world whichever way you do it. So having multiple options seems kinda pointless.

Currently trying to figure out if lesser dragons ever respawn or if they're just very limited per play through. And if Sigurd is hanging out anywhere in the post game since he doesn't seem to be in any of the usual spots.

The jadite orb quest is a tutorial for forgeries, so every turn in quest is a follow up to it I guess.

no he doesn't, you can just drag the fight out for a couple of minutes and still get a perfect one. he'll say 'ok that's enough time for me' during the fight. the medusa head is just a shortcut for it

Soporific Arrow is probably the best way to do it if you don't have a media head, but if you've got that you can get a head really easily.

Don’t think it mentions it outright but you buy the orb from the forger so it’s one of those 1+1=2 situations. EDIT: wait it does mention the forger explicitly, dude makes you go to him to verify it’s not a fake.

I did see a way to solve that quest was to grab the runaways dude and bring him right to the guy searching for him which is pretty drat evil lol

So far I've sold the JADEITE ORB to the rich guy instead of that other guy because he was closer to me at the time, a shopkeep lost an eye, this guy lost his job, a doctor apparently is going to poison himself to death, Melve just exists because no quests ever triggered there ever lol, and the elves are saved

I'm probably going to be a pretty good ruler of the land

The “bad” statue isn’t even bad, it’s the same quality as the other statues in his house, other than the terrain and the dude fighting the gryphon, which aren’t the point of the quest

Did they not actually make different statues for different quest outcomes

Really? I don't think I hit the griffin even once until it flew away, I dragged it out as long as possible, and I still got the bad ending to that quest.

For the Griffin, you just need to burn the wings after the fights been going a while, instead of as soon as you can.

I got to the endgame part (haven't done anything yet) and I've heard there's a time limit before you're forced into NG+, but I've also heard you can stop the time limit by doing stuff there, but nobody can seem to agree on exactly what the parameters and results are. Is there an authoritative conclusion on how that mechanic works?

picked the game back up after tapering off for a month or so, this time with a new pc build. the city is still a little hinky but infinitely better than my old system, especially when a monster attack happens.

I did immediately get right back into poking around every nook and cranny of bakbattahl, though. I like the tombs with all the different... dead kings? that have cool gear drops. gonna try and get back to volcano island next time I play - I beelined there before for the sword quest, but I didn't take time to look around.

Yeah it's pretty simple. I've read a few conflicting things but here's my understanding based on two playthroughs

The advancing fog: stops advancing after you've beaten the beasts at each of the red beacons on the map, except the final one that appears at the seafloor shrine. Once you've gotten all the beacons the fog stops advancing entirely. The final Seafloor Shrine beacon triggers the final scene and ending, you can wait as long as you like.

Passing time: i believe you have 10 in game days. during this time you can rest at inns/homes, but on the 10th day time stops advancing, and you can't rest anymore. you can still explore indefinitely though.

Something i only noticed in ng+: things you drop in the world never go away, even in postgame :argh:

I think you're conflating two things about the endgame.

1. You need to kill the big light beam bosses to keep areas from being eaten by The Brine before they evacuate.

2. You can only "rest" so many times before the game won't let you do it anymore. This can be circumvented by using All Heals to restore your loss gauge instead, but I think at some point stuff just stops respawning so there ceases to be a point.

iirc it's useless. Medusa heads work kind of like perishable items where if they sit out long enough they lose their power, but also using them runs them dry faster.

I made two forgeries of the Jadeite Orb and kept the original on me for the rest of the game. The outcomes for both halves of the quest don't really change, but the quest journal calls you out for being turboselfish :allears:

I'll spoil it in case you want to find one on your own: the Medusa is on the path into the jungle off the south end of Battahl. Look for a cave entrance with fallen trees in an X pattern in front. Also, you know, lots of inexplicable statues.

Second part: To actually get the head you have to do critical slashing damage to her head while she's alive. You can either time a charged up warrior attack just right, or sleep/freeze her solid and then any attack to the head with a slashing weapon will do.

Wakestones also work to reset your health.

From what I've seen of the time limit you start "losing" areas of the map on the 4th rest. And I think you can't rest anymore times after the 10th rest. I only rested a single time in the endgame - and that was right before finishing the game - because I needed to get all of the NPCs to spawn in town.

Phlegmish

I don't think you lose those areas if you defeat the associated dragon in time. Right?

They really need to make an infinite version of Unmoored World that scales with time.

Make it the final, most extreme skill check. I snoozed through most of the combat and really want to Test My Might.

Endgame/ending spoilers:
I really think they meant to have Unmoored World be a bigger thing but ran out of time and/or budget. It seems so cool but at the same time hollow and devoid of anything. It even has its own title drop and main menu, which seems quite excessive for couple of hours of content.

Phlegmish
Jul 2, 2011

Seems to me that they ran out of time and money about halfway through. You arrive in Bakbattahl, you're suddenly just a few quests away from finishing the game. It feels weirdly rushed. Game would have been incredible, albeit very long, if they had fleshed out the Bakbattahl quests a little more, and made Volcanic Island a proper third act.
