Another free DLC set thanks Over$hill But seriously did you watch the trailer for this. I never watched the webisodes but I thought it was pretty good. Too bad the heist(s?) don't come out for another week.

So I guess Maniac's Dual SMGs is what Fugitive will get in the skill tree rebirth. I wonder if other weapons will get Akimbo too now that they're expanding the list. And now with Maniac we now have four team buffing decks after the perk deck rework. With Hysteria being granted to the whole group we get more damage resistance the more we keep clicking cops. Never stop killing.

Seems like Maniac converts damage into an ablative layer of temporary health - it goes away when you don't attack. Interesting idea but there's no way enemies on DW can't outDPS you if you take on too many at once. BTW, I've been playing random DW games for the last week and several times I've jumped in Forest runs and the host inevitably picks the helicopter escape. Inevitably we wipe out on the escape because its out in then open and there are 100 cops camping it. Helicopter escape has to be the biggest preplanning trap in Payday 2. Boat is so much safer.

ALL MODS ARE LIKELY TO NOT WORK WITH THE NEW UPDATE. TURN THEM OFF AND PLAY VANILLA UNTIL THEY GIVE AN UPDATE. copy from reddit:quote:Excitement: 40% of damage you deal is converted into Hysteria Stacks, upto 240 every 4 seconds. Max amount of stacks is 600. Even maxed out, Maniac does not give that much protection to the crew. It adds a slight buffer, but it won't save you from a black dozer. I wonder if it breaks like armor or if carryover damage just applies directly to you - i.e. if I get hit from 1 attack for 100 damage and I can absorb 20 points of it with Hysteria, will the last 80 points carry over or will it be dropped? I assume snipers still go through that, but what about normal attacks?

clockworkjoe posted:copy from reddit: Without trying it out at all, I'm guessing it's a persistent flat damage reduction. Fully maxed it should be reducing damage by 36, which might let you shrug off some SMG fire but isn't going to do much against a shotgun Green or black 'dozer. The decay feels high, probably to compensate. The trailer does show that Overkill is ready to dive into the paranormal though, which they hinted at during the Diamond trailer.. Where's my Wizardry Pack, Almir?

In case you hadn't realized, we got a SMG as well as an akimbo today. A single Heather is good, but it is not the best in its class. It resides in the same 40-44 damage bracket that the SpecOps and Jacket's Piece call home. Dual SMGs are a joy but I actually had to NOT ace SMG specialist as an effective 1800 RoF was a little much for me.

I'm hoping I'm wrong. E: On second thought, you might have some success with a 2-man gimmick involving the new deck, Gambler, Bullseye, and heavy armor. It might be one of those things that really ramps and stacks up like old Grinder. I haven't seen the deck yet, since the website doesn't load properly on my phone and I'm at work, but if it does do that you're looking at basically "if you click enough cops you can straight up ignore damage" and that might be interesting. But I'm sure judging by the posts here it's written out so that there is a hard cap on how much damage you can ignore. That said, if it's prioritizing damage dealt vs damage received as I have described, it still has major downfalls that would balance out. Since it's not regenerating health you're reliant on doctor bags, FAKs, Gambler, and pure skill to not go down.

Don't know if that's a 'real' 36 or if it suffers from the same weirdness other skills with numbers have because cop numbers are doubled or something - might need the Long Guide to be sure.

So having run around with it a bit today, first thoughts on Maniac: It's got an arcane UI. I think the blue bar is damage reduction and the white inner circle is supposed to be Hysteria but since they have a direct correlation I don't really understand why they made two bars for them. It isn't terribly noticeable and I was only testing on Very Hard; I can only imagine how little effect it will have when enemies are doing more damage. It might make a huge difference on paper but it just doesn't feel impactful. Keeping up stacks is a real chore, even with things like the flamethrower, malatovs and high RoF weapons to compensate. You've got no innate health regen, so you're going to be taking cover to regenerate your armor, which means your stacks are going to decay. It plays a lot like reverse grinder, to its detriment; Grinder gets better the more reckless you are, since you need to keep hitting and keep getting regen if you want to survive. By contrast the EHP that Maniac offers is too low to support reckless play so you have to play conservatively. But the only way to benefit from it is to be constantly shooting. Overall, not great. I want to try it as part of a support-team some time though, with Maniac, Gambler, Armorer, and Crew Chief.

No, you're right. I'm wrong. 50% is not the same as 100%.

With SMG specialist ace, the Heather has 900 RoF. Two of them fire at 900 RoF each for effectively 1800 RoF. The Heather has 750 RoF base so effectively akimbo has 1500 RoF without SMG specialist ace.
