Took place on a ship, which is the kiss of death for 90%+ of 3rd person games.

This might be a repeat (or at the very least, I've typed it out a few times and closed on it because it's not very fair): I can't get back into Diablo 3 because the last time I played it, I played Seasonal. I know for a fact that there's a friendly "here's your stuff from last season on your real characters" box waiting for me, and the idea of opening that up and sorting it all out (removing duplicate items, etc) is just wearying to me.

spit on my clit posted:my shortest way of describing my problems with the story: you can really feel the rewrites happening once you bring one timeline into the one you're in, and it just gets worse from there until the ending, where everything is clear: you can have crunch time on game development (BAD IDEA), but you can't have crunch time on writing A lot of this is the way games are developed. Thanks to stuff like XBLA and Steam achievements and PSN trophies, devs now can get pretty good data on how much of a game is being played and they know more than ever that most games aren't finished. So the endings of games get neglected a lot- when push comes to shove, the latter portions of the game can be more readily sacrificed. And while you'd ideally have the story written out all the way beforehand so it doesn't matter at least in a narrative sense, the way writing and things like level design get bound up in each other makes it difficult; the publisher may suddenly decide that the end levels need to be entirely different, which requires story changes to justify it, etc. It thankfully doesn't happen all the time but if there's going to be a specific portion of the game that has to be rushed, it's usually gonna be the end.

Diablo 3 is just a game for killing time, it's the same at the end as the beginning so just make a new character.

diablo 3 is not a good game for killing time, imo. the best game of that kind I've seen is Enter the Gungeon, and the only problem I have with it right now is that getting to the Advanced Dragun is really annoying, because good luck resisting the urge to buy items until the ray key if you aren't playing as the bullet.

A little thing that drags that game up - it's surprisingly nice to have granular difficulty settings for combat/exploration/puzzles, I was surprised it popped up in the second sequel but I hope it becomes a standard for adventure games.

I think we're not so much talking about games explaining how the grappling hook works when you pick it up as about games will happily present you with a puzzle room where you see four statues HMM I THINK THESE STATUES CAN BE MOVED that it seems can be pushed I SHOULD CHECK MY NOTEBOOK and four crests on the wall I BET THIS DRAWING HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THESE STATUES that you can find in your noteIT LOOKS LIKE EACH CREST IS CONNECTED TO A STATUEbook WHAT IF I PUSH THE STATUES INTO THE SAME POSITIONS AS THE CRESTS

While I understand the complaints about games handholding you all the time, I don't know where I'd be without a minimap and GPS waypoints because I get turned around trying to explore a city at the best of times. And the same with paint covering ledges you can climb on. If climbing along ledges are a thing and the game doesn't funnel you along one direction then I don't know what to do. Basically I'm part of the problem.

Games just need to be better about listing the controls somewhere. There should always be somewhere that lists what the controls of a game are. Its often a pain in the rear end to look up controls online.

It read like schizophrenic sorcery and it comes up once in game and never again, and that time you are actively trying to do it with an opponent instead of just practicing, so your attention is split and its easy to miss important information that will never be repeated.

The instructions for how to use a scope in that game pop up once in the shop when you buy one, and I totally missed it and didn’t know you could actually aim down it for a while. I thought it just gave bonus accuracy. God I hated that game.
