I had to look this up because I couldn't remember anything sounding remotely like a rape admission (jfc) from the archives, and it's from the segment on the essay Jonathan wrote about going to Mexico when he was 15. When he's describing what actually went down he mentions being hosed up on coco-puffs and when the dirty Mexican porn was on he projector he got so horny he grabbed a girl and they had crazy terrible sex. I highly doubt by using "grabbed" he literally meant he grabbed her and forced her into having sex, more like it's just how he worded the story. There's zero evidence that she wasn't also caught up in it/didn't reciprocate his advance. Seth's later reference to it as "a coked-up sexual assault" is throwing the event out of proportion for comedic effect* *not that there's anything comedic about sexual assault, obviously, but I don't think that is what happened** **anyhow you get what I mean*** ***I hope

I would probably be able to forgive a guy if, 20 years ago when he was 15 years old, he was in Mexico and some older dude made him smoke laced weed and showed him and some other kids porn and while he was blitzed he forcefully had sex with a girl, and he feels regret about it now. and it doesnt seem like he even went that far also lol at the situation that ends in your girlfriend asking "Why are we paying to watch a rapist?" because obviously she didnt know about that, so it means she started complaining and you felt the need to give her the extra info "yeah, the one guy is a rapist too" just to add fuel to the fire lmao based on a story when he says he 'grabbed' a girl when he was 15

How long did it take for you to tell your wife about that story so you could both cluck your tongues at the kid who kinda got drugged and taken advantage of in a lovely country a couple decades ago?

Today at work I was doing some monotonous task on my computer and started playing UYD clips on Youtube in the background to help ease the pain. One of them was this clip on crazy delusions from '08, which leads off with talking about "Truman Show delusions". Later on I was driving home listening to the latest episode of This American Life...and they lead off with the exact same story about the same guys at Bellevue Hospital with the same delusion UYD once again way ahead of the game compared to everyone else.

Nooooo, thread, don't kid yourselves. Jonathan pretty much admitted to committing a rape, and it wasn't funny or entertaining in the least. "She never responded to my MySpace request!" Well, based on the story you just told? Yeah! No poo poo. That said, you will compartmentalize and accept things about a person if you enjoy their work or their personality. You'll gleefully lambaste a public figure that you have no connection to for their behavior, but you'll overlook another's if it's convenient. For example, my grandfather was one of my greatest influences in life, and he thought Woody Allen's comedy was beyond compare. He introduced me to Allen's work during a formative period in my adolescence and, as a result, "Love and Death," "Bananas," "Take the Money and Run," "Sleeper," they're among my favorite films of all time. I know the jokes by heart. These days I just swallow hard and ignore the drama of Woody's personal life (and the pedophilia jokes in the films themselves) because those movies mean something to me. I want to recognize their merits and the memory of my grandfather sharing something with me more than I want to recognize the fact that Woody Allen is a goddamn creep who hosed his adopted daughter and is now handsy as poo poo with the pubescent girls who live with him and call him Dad. I hate the shithead kids of wealthy people who can seemingly get away with anything, and I hate drunk drivers. Jonathan and Seth both fit those descriptions in their pasts. Yet the one hour a week I get to listen to them - even when they are reminiscing about those days - entertains me enough that I can gloss over those histories in my mind. I know it's hypocrisy, dammit, but my solipsistic need to be entertained eventually supersedes my sense of "decency." A Horse Named Mandy, there is almost certainly a celebrity that your girlfriend loves who is/was a loving monster. Hell, just turn on "Thriller." See if her immediate reaction is anything besides "Michael Jackson was a child rapist."

It didn't bother me that she was offended by him (for reciting rap lyrics of all things) but in the course of talking about him, I remembered somebody mentioned that incident earlier in this thread and I brought it up like, "if you think that's bad, listen to this", then found myself called on something I listened to years ago and probably laughed about at the time. It's a funny story. A horrifying funny story. But like the fight episode, don't make it anybody's intro to the boys.

Now this isn't something that A Horse Named Mandy has said directly. But I'm pretty sure his girlfriend beats him, and she hates rap music. She's a really horrible person, and I hope he gets out of this abusive relationship before something happens.

Now I'm not entirely sure if it's "true", but has A Horse Named Mandy had sex with his GF when she was drunk? We all know that is something a rapist does. Is that the truth? I don't know. I'm just asking questions.

I dunno man, I think it's safer to assume that he thought it would be funny to tell a story about the time he raped a girl in Mexico on his comedy podcast. That just seems reasonable to me.
