I guess c-spam isn't behind a pay wall so you can thank lowtax for even a remote possibility of being able to get possession of this rare artifact once again. At either rate, it's been a fun adventure and makes me appreciate the print I have and every one of you even more :toot:

it was planned in the sense that the chain of causality is unbroken stretching back through beginningless time. even the buddhas and patriarchs are not exempt from cause and effect. op was never going to not throw the carving into the ocean, and neptune was never going to not return it. all things unfold in the only possible way. free will is an illusion, because there does not exist a self in the first place, to which the idea of free will could even apply. namaste

nope, random chance. I was hoping it would come back and even went looking for it a few times, but I couldn't find it, so I assumed it was lost forever

the return of the print me is not guaranteed, though the people who found it seem nice so there is a chance

illusion is a will free

your mistake is thinking of metaphysically free and metaphysically unfree, both of which don't exist and has a bafflingly convoluted definition of 'freedom'

My apologies to the people who volunteer to clean the beaches, for littering. :(

After throwing it in I hoped I could fish it back out but it floated out of my reach, and then it was too late. The sea had taken it. But I did not forget sailor, and I went back and looked for it, hoping that it had washed up somewhere along the shore and that I could retrieve it. I never found it.

But someone did! If you return it to me I will use it to make more artwork, and as that artwork is shared it will be accompanied by this interesting and unlikely story, and thereby illustrate and promote the importance of the people who do clean the beaches. And it shows that you never know what kind of things you can find out there!
