Wow, Wreck-It-Ralph 2 and Lego Movie 2 are practically looking like "DON'T [X], INSTEAD [Y]" examples in a textbook on writing sequels to animated films.

this just feels like hairsplitting about the relative level of hipness of different toy ads but otoh I'm apparently the like one millennial not consumed by nostalgia for Transformers or He-Man

LM2 is focused on the characters, and gives you and idea of what is going on, WIR2 feels like they're waffling from one gag to another with strong emphasis on branding and less on Ralph and Vanellope.

He'd be no Raul Julia, but he certainly would come close.

It's insane they have that cast to do an animated movie of this material. The only one who doesn't seem like they could pull off their part in live action is the Stranger Things kid

seems they're leaning more towards the comics than the movies https://twitter.com/DynaMoChen/status/1004077927561089024 it's actually kinda weird now that I think about it, the movies and TV series are what I think of when I hear Addam's Family, so that's how I picture the characters, but that's not how they were originally conceived

By the way, based on the leg movement on the "alien" and etc, this is definite the LEGO Fairies and etc. lines, which are the "for girls" LEGO, so hopefully the plot will be about integrating the normal lego and the "for girls" LEGO and make it clear it's for everyone and is still meant to be mix and matched.

I like all but Wednesdays designs, the two live action movies are pretty much classics in my eyes, so it'll be interesting to see where they take the animated movie.

The whole family is amazing, especially considering how old the show is. Gomez and Morticia are clearly head over heels in love with each other. It's passionate without being raunchy. They also talk out their problems; any time they disagree (which isn't common), they work to see the others' point of view. It's a model of how to have a successful relationship. The kids are given freedom to learn and explore and make mistakes, and supported at all times. It's a model of how to raise children to be independent without running wild. There's no snarky "I hate the in-laws" crap with grandmama, even Lurch is treated with respect. There's not a single person they interact with who is treated poorly. It's a model of how to treat others in your sphere of influence, even when they're on the edges of it. The women are treated as equals. Physical differences mean nothing. The Addamses default to inclusiveness at all times. It's a model of how to treat others, even those you don't understand. I could go on and on. I love the Addams Family, both the original B&W show and the movies.

Honestly, there hasn't really been a bad adaption of The Addams Family as far as I can remember. Even the previous cartoon that ran back in the 90's was fairly decent.
