We're going to see a lawsuit or two over this election if the ballots aren't representative of who the actual candidate is, right? Just going with the scenario that the RNC decides to give Trump the boot at the top of the ticket, it doesn't necessarily matter who replaces him because the ballots are "locked down" (whatever that means, i.e. - the ballots have already been printed), right?

Nobody is actually forcing Trump off the ticket. For one, he won't leave unless you kill him and make him a martyr. For another his name is on the ballots and there's gently caress all anyone can do about that.

Calls for him to drop out or be replaced are theater designed to distance a politician from Donny's toxicity as much as possible. They all know that they can't do anything about the top of the ticket. Plus if they actually gave half a poo poo they would have jumped ship about 20 scandals ago at the latest.

If you want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're not a pack of loving idiots who got played by a con man the whole way, the calls to dump Donny could be seen as a ploy to energize the deplorables and ensure maximum rage voting from them come election day. Anyone with even a sliver of a conscience didn't going to vote R for President come time to vote after all.

It's interesting because I'm not sure Trump's goal is even 'winning' at this point. It's saving face and trying to make Clinton look bad. It's the only thing that makes his line of attack make any sense because, even if he somehow successfully hurts Hilary with a topic people having been trying to discredit the Clintons with for decades, it just keeps the topic in the spotlight and continues to make Trump look like a poo poo human too.

Not only are the ballots printed, early voting has already started and a lot of people have sent in votes for Trump (but not that many :shobon:).

I don't think the calls for him to withdraw are predicated on the assumption that he'd be replaced with someone else, just that Trump would say "okay I'm not running for President anymore" and leave it at that, basically.

Everyone on the right who is still interested in supporting Trump seems to think that there is still meat on the old Bill Clinton sex scandal bone. They seriously believe that everyone else thinks the same way they do, and that revealing this to those poor deluded folks not in the know will change minds and sink that old Witch once and for all. Projection isn't just about the things people do, it's also about the things people think. In the end, they think the common voting folk are just like them, and anyone who professes differently is either uninformed or actively lying about their motivations.

Line by line dissection of Trump's "apology"

I am not good at the twitter, so here are her posts for other people who, like me, are not good at the twitter.

quote:

1. "I'm not perfect" = Your expectations I behave like a human being are unreasonable.
2. "I've never pretended to be something I'm not" = You fell in love with me so it's your fault.
3. "This is more than decade old video" = It was a long time ago, why the fuss? You're so unreasonable.
4. "These words do not reflect who I am" = The reality you just experienced didn't actually happen (gaslighting).
5. "I said it... I apologize" = Get over it already, I *said* I'm sorry; you're being unreasonable.
6. "I've... my... me... I... I've... me... I... I..." = It's all about me; your needs, feelings, existence don't matter.
7. "Grieving mothers... laid off workers..." = What are you complaining about? You have it good compared to others.
8. "I pledge to be a better man tomorrow & will never let you down" = I'm sorry I hit you. It'll never happen again.
9. "Let's be honest" = You're not being honest.
10. "We're living in the real world" = I'm sane and you're crazy.
11. "This is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues" = See what you did?! This is all your fault!
12. "We are less safe... Hillary..." = If you only held up your end of the relationship, I wouldn't have had to hurt you.
13. "I've said some foolish things, but... " = You're being hysterical over nothing again. You're so crazy.
14. "actually abused" = The abuse you experienced wasn't *actually* abuse.
15. "We will discuss this more... See you... on Sunday" = I'm in control here, not you (with menacing implied threat).
Trump ends his statement of "apology" for bragging about sexually assaulting women with a promise to attack yet another woman more viciously.
I don't know who really wrote Trump's "apology" but it's hard to imagine a worse one and his delivery was... lacking.
Still shaking my head. / People really thought Trump might withdraw in his video statement. / HE DOESN'T THINK HE DID ANYTHING WRONG.
Malignant narcissists like Trump NEVER NEVER NEVER admit to themselves or anyone else that they are at fault. / They lack the capacity.
