There is a shitload of HD texture packs and widescreen codes or patches. ROM hacks like Pikmin 255 or Mario Eclipse. Undubs and randomizers and whathaveyou.

If you want to play the Metroid prime trilogy there is a separate emulator just for those. It's great.

The thing about the wiimote pointer is that you can basically just map it to the mouse cursor and use the trackpad, and in most cases it works exactly like you'd expect it to. Which suddenly means a bunch of Wii games have mouse controls, which is great.

Hmm, ok. And does anyone know how well the Wii versions of Pikmin 1 and 2 play on the Steam Deck, via Dolphin?

I haven't tried AX yet, still getting through GX (Goroh!! :argh:), but thanks for the info about it and about the HD Pikmans.

Nothing I can't afford, and I'll be selling my old SD with the 512gb drive installed for $300 which I don't see a problem in moving.

I sold my 64gb model with a 512gb swapped in for 325 yesterday. It sold in less than a day. Check fb marketplace, mine was the cheapest by about 25 bucks so you may be able to get a slight bit more.

Perfectly. It's one of the standard Gamecube emulation tests, if GX and Rogue Leader run well everything will.

This is the thing I'm most excited about on Lenovo's handheld, if we can detach the controllers then they'd be perfect for Wii emulation.

It runs amazingly well, but some of the menus are messed up. Not unusable, but the frame for selecting a vehicle isn't lined up at all with what you have selected.

Is there even an iso fix or Dolphin setting that fixes that? Otherwise, it's like 98% in line with how it was originally.

It was a complete loving shitshow. The purchase page froze when you tried to hit the checkout button and transactions got stuck in permanent "pending" status. I waited for hours hoping my pending order would go through and hold my place in line, but ended up having to cancel it and place a new order, which pushed me back several quarters.

Note: their support is completely useless about this kind of thing

Yeah, and you really only need $5 (of a queue happens). I think people are overestimating how much interest a refresh will be though, sure the LE is going to be hard but I kinda feel like it's going to be easier to get the others, they even said as much.

Steamdeck.com posted:

Is there a reservation queue if you run out of Steam Decks?
Yes, if we should run out of stock for a specific model, we will switch to a reservation queue and customers will receive invitations to purchase in the order that they entered the queue. That said, we will be refreshing inventory of Steam Deck regularly, and do not foresee long queue times like we saw with the Steam Deck LCD launch.

Yep. Best way to add it is to download the Augmented Steam extension on your browser of choice, go to the steam website wallet and you can directly put in how much you want.

They're not doing deposits, correct? So you need to have the full amount on there?

Does the displayed price include tax and shipping? If not, how much additional should I preload?

If I'm unable to get the LE Deck, is there a way to get the money back into my bank account?

They explicitly said they’ll open reservation queues if things sell out but it’ll be launching with full direct-sale tomorrow until/unless that happens.

They didn’t charge anything extra for shipping for the LCD models at least, it’s just included. Doesn’t account for tax, though.

And no, once you load money in to your wallet it’s there until you spend it in Steam, no refunds on that afaik.

Ouch, that's unfortunate.

I'm only interested in the high tier SKU if it's the limited edition, if I can't get that I'd rather buy the 512GB OLED.

But if I preload money for the LE model and don't get it, I'm stuck with ~$100 in Steam that can't get back to my wallet :(

Yeah, I’m in that exact same boat. On the other hand, it’s not like I’m not buying games regularly enough that it’ll take a while to use it, especially with the winter sale coming up in the next couple months (weeks? Don’t remember if it’s around Christmas or Black Friday)

It didn't include tax last time, so I added my local tax amount. IIRC shipping was free (included) before and I assume it will be this time as well.

Once it's in the wallet it's with Steam, no way to get it back out that I know of.

It's a shame the only requirement to be eligible to buy the Deck is an account with at least one purchase prior to Nov '23.

Since such requirements are pretty typical, it'd be super easy to make a bunch of accounts, buy some dirt cheap porn game on each, then reap massive profit flipping things like the Steam Deck.

They should have restricted it based on account age as well as a required dollar amount of purchase history.

Even the most casual steam user has likely spent at least $100 on the platform over time.

I think the LE sells out, I will be very surprised if the other two do like the original. Most people with a LCD steam deck aren't buying an OLED, and the supply chain issues aren't the same as when the LCD went on sale. i think scalpers will be pretty dumb to try and score much profit off the non-LE models.

I'm still not sure if I'll go 512 or 1tb this time around. I don't know if I care much about the anti glare screen and i can always upgrade the SSD myself like last time around.
